22 ammo hoarding

well lets think about it a minute. Gun sales setting records. preppers believing electing Obama was the end of guns in America. He will ban the sale of ammunition.

guy who normally might buy a box or two of .22 ammo a year buys a brick. pretty soon the shelves are not as full. Next guy says hell i better buy 2 bricks. the shelves are looking pretty sparse. Next guy just buys all they have on the shelves at the time. next guy panics and starts to search the stores and when he finds some he buys them out.

if everyone had just bought what they normally did shortages would have never happened but when everyone goes from buying a couple of boxes to buying bricks.....

it was all of us. anyone who bought more than they normally would have. i am guilty. i have an ammo tin of .22's i bought back then. Don't often shoot rimfire. haven't shot any of them. Also have several 1000 round 5.56 ammo boxes bought back then.

well let me say it again. the stores were not getting the inventory they were in the past. I have a relative who is a manager at a walmart dc and when I asked about the 22 supply. I was told they are not receiving what they were getting in the past.

I also made a post about this very thing way back when this first started and it was removed from view so fast it was almost like our admin got a call telling them to pull it. but yeah horders

Wrong answer. Obviously you neglected to read the 10k’ as I suggested.
Remind me again, what business are you in??

If it was not paid off you are doing it wrong. As stated in the past I run a manufacturing company. Let me guess your business is drinking the kool-aid?

Impressive! Now how many rounds would they have needed to sell? Cost per round? Profit per round?

Btw, it’s spelled hoarding not “hording .”

so many seem to have all the answers,,when they really don't have squat.I guess I can say ,,I own a manufacturing company,,and donate to this SITE,,

In the post apocalyptic world of Mad Max and the Terminator, overrun by gangs of evil toughs that seek to hunt squirrels...
When this thug ran into the 22 hoarding, I resorted to an Air Arms 510 to put those tasty greys into the frying pan. Now I hope they don’t start hoarding JSB 18.1gr. 22 pellets. Plus buy 4 tins and get one for free at times.

We can blame the Government/hoarders. The fact is, it was nothing more than panic buying.

i live in florida. see it every time a hurricane coming. grocery stores cleaned out. milk and bread first for some reason. lowes and home depot plywood and generators flying out the door. gas stations a mad house.

come to think of it every time the media talks about gas shortages we have one. people filling up everything they have with gas.

the gun panic lasted a long time. from Obama's election till Trump was elected. if Hillary had been elected it would still be going on. Great period for ammo and gun dealers. brought a lot of new people to our sport.

kind of feel sorry for those who dug holes and filled them with guns, ammo and food. they never got to live out their plan. Reminds my of all those government fallout shelters of my youth. Just glad none of this preparation has been needed up till now. no one know what the future will hold.

Bought a box of fedeal 550 plated HPs for like $21 after tax last week. Still too high bit that is now the only hollow points I have. I was shooting a few from the late 90s. Most seemed to shoot ok and they all went bang, but I wasn't really target shoooting.

22LR ammo use to be my go to item for rounding up an order to get free shipping. I'd throw in a brick or two of 22LR on sale and supply definitely started to exceeded demand because I don't shoot 22's like I use to. Consequently, over the years, I've accumulated thousands upon thousands of rounds of 22LR ammo. Now that the grand kids are getting old enough to graduate from BB guns to 22 caliber rimfire rifles, maybe they can help their old grandpa burn through this old ammo. I can hand this stuff out like party favors and they can shoot til their heart's content.

I wasn't deliberately hoarding it - just inadvertently accumulating it. Glad CCI 22LR Mini-Mag is readily available again, it was nigh impossible to find for awhile.

I don't think of buying a lifetime supply of something, of anything non-perishable, as hoarding. It's more like a well timed purchase. It's about having money and a supplies at the same time. Now, if I die before all my powder, bullets, and primers are gone, I guess you can say I'm a hoarder but you have to wait until after I die.

are you using the components or just storing them in anticipation of some future event?

I don't understand why 22shorts are so high.
Seems like they always have been. Many years ago I picked up a High Standard ISU in a trade. .22 Shorts only. Three times the price of .22LR. Fun to shoot, but I soon traded it.
