Berger 127 Gr 257 Hybrid - 0.300 G7 & 0.59 G1 BC

Charles Newton would be proud. 100 years later and we're taking a close variant of his cartridge and using it to push 130gn bullets to 3000fps.

EDIT: What are options for dies on a 25x47. It's so nice that there isn't a cartridge that pre-dates it already called the same thing (6x47 vs 6x47Lapua)!

Do you have a price ceiling for the 131 that you're trying to stay under?

Great question that I can answer pretty directly.

We have run market averages on the most popular bullets used by match shooters multiple times over the 2.5 years since we decided to take on this High BC 257 project. Running the numbers now even considering Hornady's firesale pricing on the bullets match shooters use the very fair average retail price in cents per grain would make our bullet 0.377 per bullet.

Now that's a super fair price just basing it off cents per grain of the popular long range competition bullets and not considering that our bullet is of very high consistency and designed to truly maximize ballistics in 25x47 and 25 Creedmoor. $0.377 per is a great value for the bullet you'd be getting if that ends up being our price, BUT we want to offer them a bit lower than that to really get people on board to shooting 257.

We will sell these bullets as low as we can to ensure we can run a healthy business, keep stock coming to the shooters that support us, and bring a second high BC 257 bullet to market to offer guys another option for Long Range Hunting (although it will make a great Match bullet as well).

Several weeks back, I ordered a 25x47L reamer from JGS and sent the reamer print to Whidden for a F/L sizing die. I had already built a 25 Norma Dasher a few months ago and it shoots quite well.

My question is what velocities have you achieved from the 25x47 with the 131 gr bullet and what powder are you using? Are these Quickload velocities or actual shooting velocities?
My intent though, is to stick to 110 BIB and the 115 Berger.

KMart,

We went to 2950 fps using H4350 and saw zero signs of pressure at all. This was a 26" 6 groove X-Caliber blank that was broken in with the old 117 SP's in a 0.130" freebore and 0.289" neck Manson reamer. In terms of efficiency and ballistics the 25x47 is a true champ running this 131 gr ACE.

It's going to take a few months to get people going but in the tac comps the 25x47L is going to be hard to beat in the balance of performance it offers.

Thank you for the info.

The 115 Berger VLD is no slouch at longer ranges, and Randy's 110 is not either....
I shoot them both in a few 25's and they do well, especially in the 25/284.........
Super old thread I know but looking for some 110BTs if anyone can afford to let some go. I heard the Bib 110s are an excellent hunting bullet. Putting together a 25-284 and sure would love to try them out on a LR antelope or whitetail. Thanks.

You could try the 110gr ELDX.
Fairly jump tollerant. They were fairly accurate out of my 257 Roberts, and 250 Savage.

The 115gr VLD is a good bullet, but my rifles like them right against the lands.
Recoils produced is above what one would expect. Especially in the 250 Savage.

I'm looking for 110 ELDXs. I obtained thru midway some 115 Berger's and a member contacted me with some he had also. No ELDX bullets available tho anywhere.

OAL: 1.275
Ogive: 16 caliber blended secant, axial length of .750”
Boat tail: .215” 7 degree
Bearing length: .310
.046” diameter meplat
Weight: 122 grains
G7 BC~ .305

Seems like your not asking the right person !!!!
Actually two sites I ordered 110 ELDXs from said in stock so I ordered. Both sent an email back 3 days later saying no estimated time of in stock status so they allow customers to order while showing In Stock but they are NOT in stock.

I have some 131s I can't wait to try but the new Berger's are on my wishlist. Probably be another year till they show up tho
I'm more comfortable with doing a barrel for these .25 heavy bullets now. I have wanted to do a 25xc or a Creedmoor for a while now, but only one bullet available kinda killed it for me. Now I need to find a blank and get this project started.

I hear ya. Now I know how many of the .270 guys feel. Finally some heavies being introduced for the .277 soon.
