22 ammo hoarding

Link

Silver $$ Contributor
Just on ammo seek and there is tons of 22lr ammo for less than .04$ a round.
Looks like the hoarding is over. :)

Frigging tards and their .22 hoarding was possibly one of the stupidest periods in sports shooting history.

"Oh look, I have 200,000 rounds of 22lr, in case we get attacked by alien zombie squirrels!!!!"

TARDS.

You must remember the politics of that time period.Seriously. They still are stirring the chit.

yes no more 10 dollar bricks, nor will we likely see 20 dollar bricks but walmart just might..they buy big!

i THINK 25 dollar bricks of plinking ammo is possible, certainly under 30.
i am not a buyer at 40

I hate to say it, but what I saw was shooting clubs hoarding the 22 LR ammo. The local Walmart guy told me the same guys would come in at store open with a shopping cart, and take all the 22 LR ammo. They knew when the truck was going to deliver the ammo, don't ask me how, but they did. Ditto at Academy and other sporting good shops nearby.

I tried to get in early in the hope of getting some, but was always a couple of minutes too late. They were nothing if not well prepared and efficient.

I put my 22LR in the closet and bought a 223. No more shortage.

BTW: I still have a brick of 500 in a SEARS (Ted Williams) box. Think I paid $4.95 for it.

Just seen bricks at Walmart for a little under $20 a couple of days ago

Dating myself here, but I remember buying .22LR ammo for 35 cents a box (50 rounds). With a plague of groundhogs and the county paying 50 cents for each pair of groundhog ears, sure kept a young shooter happy!

I remember when 22 Shorts were 50 cents a box. Our dad would give my older brothers 10 bullets each. They had to take turns because we had just one .22 in the family. When they got home, our father expected 10 rabbits from each of them. If not, you didn't hunt the next trip. It was 1953.

I can remember trading my uncle rabbits and squirrels for shotgun shells in the early 80s. It sure was incentive not to miss!

For me it was closer to 50 cents a box, but the bounty on rattlesnakes was $1.25, plus I could also sell the hides to a local leather work shop to be made into belts and hatbands. Life was good for a 12 - 14 year bounty hunter...
