Dented cases while resizing

Yes, I have a few hundred 300WM cases from Winchester exactly as you describe, not all of them are affected though.
Most wrinkles are gone after firing, but if it’s pleated, as mine are, they only reduce in size and are always there.
Funny thing is I have never seen a case split on the pleat unless it was so bad that it was slit in the first place.

"PLEATS" are not dents, as I see it. Although I have seen them.
And I'm on board with the "TOO MUCH LUBE".

Guess I should not have called them a pleat, what it really looks like is an imprint of a whole oat mashed in just bellow shoulder

I'm not a betting man but if I were my money is on "oil dents" from excessive lube. They disappear when the 50,000 psi pushes them to the chamber.

Dies also have a vent hole to allow air to get out. If plugged with lube that will do it also.

thats looks worse than the brass ejected from my Fal,case neck dia.closed to 1/2 the size on one side,,,,normal

I am the guy having the denting problem and yes, they look just like the pics above. My RCBS FL die and Redding FL die did the same thing to about 1/3 of the brass from the same batch.

Are you putting lube on the neck or shoulders when sizing?

You need to somehow find a way to lube the bottom third of your cases evenly. Even doing this, straighter wall cases will grab lube from the die mouth and drag it up into the shoulder area. Before you get these hydraulic dents, you should notice a blacker or foamy ring forming on the shoulder-body junction of cases coming out of the die, now is the time to either stick qtips up in that area, or thoroughly clean your die.
This is all self inflicted and we have all had it happen.

I am seeing the black gunk forming around the shoulder/ body junction. Everything so far is pointing to a lube problem.
Not sure why i get one with a dent and then the next one or two come out fine then another dent ?
I'm using Hornady Unique case lube very sparingly just on the body. I use the Hornady "one shot" aerosol lube
on some of my smaller calibers and it seems to work really well. should i try a different lube like maybe Imperial ?? And as someone mentioned the Redding die has no vent hole but the RCBS die does.

Try using even less of the Unique stuff. It doesn't take much. If still having issues, clean the die, and spray with the One Shot. See if that fixes it.

Get you some imperial die wax. Rub your fingers on it, rub it between your thumb and fingers and rub some on the lower 1/3 of the case. If you see lube on there like fingerprint streaks its too heavy. Throw all those other lubes in the trash- nothing but problems. Clean your dies out good with a chamber swab and carb cleaner

OK, so tonight i started with the squeaky clean Redding FL sizing die (which i did before and got dents) . This time i
only lubed the bottom 1/2 or 1/3 of the case body with the Hornady Unique. Went 10 for 10 with no dents
Been reloading for smaller calibers for a while now ( .222 rem, 22-250, 6.5 Creedmoor, 260 rem.) and always lubed
the entire body (not neck and shoulder) with no problems. I'm new to reloading belted magnums and am learning as i go. Good thing muleman69 is right down the road from me cause i bug him all the time with my questions. Gonna get some Imperial soon as i can.
