Cooper Test Target

The test targets that Cooper includes with there rifles, at what distances do they shot at?

The Coopers built in the older facility (prior tp 2009) were shot at slightly less than 50 yards due to space limitations, the ones since moving to the new facility are shot at a true 50 yards. It really doesn't matter all that much since their guarantee is 3-shot 1/2" groups at 100 yards for centerfires and 5-shot 1/4" groups at 50 yards for the rimfires.

0lder Cooper Varmint l had back in 2004 in 222Rem test target was shot @100yds

Perhaps you are remembering the 100 yard owners manual accuracy statement, or maybe that was what the seller of the rifle told you. I have never seen a Cooper test target with the yardage printed on it, the only reference to 100 yard accuracy is in the owners manual where they state their accuracy guarantee at 100 yards.
There has always been a lot of confusion as to the distance the targets are shot at, most folks look at the groups and assume they were shot at 100 yards, the small groups on the test target are a great sales gimmick but the only reference you will find to accuracy is the owners manual guarantee.

I have been in the shooting tunnels at both the old and new facility and am sure of the distances that the test targets are shot at, they have never had the capability to shoot 100 yard indoor targets in 2004 or now.

With that being said I have often matched the test target groups at 100 yards with my Coopers, so yes they do shoot well and easily meet the accuracy guarantee.

My little ''Cooper Card'' was a laminated target of the group shot. lt contained the Ser# of the gun. Shooters name, date, and also type of bullet used... l wish l could post a picture, but l sold the rifle and sent the target to the new owner... My first exposure to Coopers came in a Scheels store in Bismarck ND back around 2000.. Displayed with each gun was the test target..

Maybe the salesman put that yardage on there. Cooper has never test fired a single rifle since day one at 100yds- not even on a bluebird day- they dont and have never had the capability to do it.

All I know is that it don't much matter what somebody else can do with the rifle they sold me or how far the other guy did it...what matters is that I put 6 shots out of my Excaliber 54 243 in a group at 100 yards that I can cover with a dime!! Why 6 shots?? because I shot until I finally threw one out of the group. They will shoot and I have had good luck with Wilson barrels on other rifles I have built. I will say one more thing...their guarantee is written in such a way that it actually means something. Don't get me wrong, I like my Kimber rifles too, but if you read the one that Kimber's lawyers wrote it is absolutely useless.
