Ruger Precision Rimfire

Daleboy, I work for a living and just now had time for a response. Groups were not worth keeping and I very seldom keep old targets. They are just past history.
Remember, forums are opinions and my opinion is different than mine. That is OK and I won't get my panties in a wad over it. If you love the Ruger, go for it. I will shoot my CZ.
Not sure what the "Work for a living is all about" ...strange statement.

Amazing all the keyboard warriors putting these rifles down. Knowing how to shoot properly in the first place really speeds up the learning curve . Show your groups you have ACTUALLY shot and maybe we can help you improve.

Done it,made my money...hope you can do the same some day. Keep trying...

Guess I ain't smart enough to quit yet. Just got in from one business and getting started with the other business. Gotta pay the bills. Maybe if I save daleboy money I can buy a ruger RF.

More work, less trolling...no wonder you can't get anywhere.

You win Butch, the thread is dead. It would have been cool to have a discussion without all the negative crap .So you don't like Ruger,so what...Many people do,many young shooters coming up through the sport use Ruger,Savage, etc. we all start some where .

My apologies to all that came to this thread to discuss the Ruger,I got sucked in and stooped to a lower level answering someone crapping on the thread .

My Son and I will still enjoy the rifle, no matter what we read.

Daleboy, I was going to say that I have a Ruger 10/22 and it shoots lights out, but it has a 10X receiver, custom bolt, Shilen barrel, and one of the original Jewell triggers. I gave it to BamBan on this forum. I do still have a #1 in 7STW that shoots good enough to hunt with.
My only point and this is my opinion, I would use something like a CZ452 for accuracy in that price range as the Ruger that I shot was abysmal.

I just picked up a Ruger today. Mounted the scope and got it all ready to go for tomorrow. If the weather is nice, I would like to test some ammo through it. I will get back to the thread and post some follow up if the thread is still going.

I shoot a similar configuration rifle stock for F-Class and had planned on modifying my 10/22 to make it similar for practicing.
Interested in checking out these new Ruger rim fires. Went by Cabela's yesterday but they didn't have any in stock.
From what I have heard about the Ruger Precision they shoot very well. If the rim fire has similar characteristics, it might be cheaper than trying to convert something else to fit the bill.
Will be interested in peoples experience with the Ruger rim fire precision.

Picked mine up tonight. Despite the fact that I think it's ugly, if it shoots well, I think I will like it. Feels solid and well built. The trigger was 3.25# and I adjusted it down to 2.5#. Obviously haven't shot it yet, but do have a potential issue. I installed a Mlok rail for a bipod. The muzzle end rail screw touches the barrel. I backed the screw out a bit but didn't check torque. In the process I discovered I can flex the barrel some. Will have to shoot it to see if this has any negative effects. I'll probably test it first without the bipod and make certain there is no contact from the screw.

Rawhide, i ran into the same issue with the screws. Both screws on mine were going to make contact. I put the M-Lok nuts on about 2/3 the way and gently held the screw to the bench grinder and took off about a third of the screw. Now it works great and there is plenty of room between screws and barrel.
I dont know if you picked up rings yet, but "High" rings worked for me with a 30mm tube and a 50mm objective. It has been pretty windy here the last couple days and were "blessed" with 5" of snow to kick off spring. Will shoot it soon.

A couple of notes:

I really like the longer throw of the bolt option, a short throw always felt awkward to me on bolt .22 rifles.

I picked mine up to get used to a chassis rifle which should be shipped any day now, and I am glad I did. It is nice to settle in behind this .22 and work on my hold and position.

The trigger came from the factory at 2.5 # and breaks very crisp.

I did disassemdle it and clean it right away. There was some fairly thick oil on the barrel and some light oil in the rifling. Should be ready to go when the weather straightens out.

I was going to put something like the M-Lok on mine but all my bi-pods mount off a swivel instead of the rail type. I didn't want to buy another bi-pod so I just drilled and tapped a hole for a standard type swivel. Worked out good IMO. As far as accuracy, I didn't figure the little Ruger to be a bench rest accurate rifle and wasn't bought for that purpose either. But when it will stack bullets on top of each other(most of the time) at 50 yds,it shoots better than I thought it would and I'm pleased with that!! I haven't got to shoot it any farther than 50 yds but plan to stretch it out soon. I'm very happy with it.

Actually Pyscodog, i was in the same situation. All my bipods attach to a swivel stud. I bought the MLok thingy that is just a little stud with a hole drilled through it to attach to, it doesnt swivel, but it beat buying a different bipod when I have a half dozen kicking around here already.

Well I'm happy for Ruger..and I will eventually purchase one of these rimfire rifle..they look like alot of fun..can't wait till there's aftermarket upgrades for them ..I have some pretty accurate rimfire rifles ..but I just like the look of the Ruger..kind of new age for them..plus the rifle will be fun to shoot along withy S&W M&P AR-22
I'm glad Ruger is still around and there definitely thinking ..more then I can say for Remington....can't believe there even still around...just ( my) opinion..

Picked mine up a few weeks ago, great rimfire gun. The only complaint that I have is that the 10 round rotary magazine is difficult to load. My fingers aren't up to the task installing rounds in the mag. Perhaps Ruger can come up with something better.
