Anneling Cool are not to cool

How long do you normally leave it in the flame ? I'm still experimenting , I will be the first to admit I don't no what I'm doing

I use a benchsource- 2 propane nozzles. I'd suggest time in flame - just until the top of the neck is a brief very dark red. Do it in a dark room, my .02. Benchsource is 4.5 sec for 6X47, and 3.5 sec for 204 ruger. fwiw.
Your time may be totally different.
I am no expert. But I have annealed thousands of cases, nary a prob. For me, after annealing I like to see the neck have a slight silvery look. All cases turn gold at the top, some have the "Lapua" iridescent look, some don't. mine drop onto a damp towel to cool. so far so good.

I ask myself this question, do Norma, Lake City, Lapua, Winchester et al stand their cases in water and then knock them over before drying them out in their process of producing brass? I'm fairly confident they don't, so I'm not going to either.

I just wish one of the manufacturers would explain to us all the correct annealing process. Although if that ever happened I would expect site traffic to halve overnight on all shooting forums

Nature abhors a vacuum so all it would take to make up the difference would be for someone to start a thread on “what’s your favorite case lube” or “what’s the best tumbling media” and we’d be back to normal bandwidth.
