Check gunbroker. Do an advanced search, completed items and you can determine it's real market value.
Having said that, unless one knows all the owners and how they treated the rifle, ARs or any of the other large magazine fed autoloaders are a crapshoot.

Why dont ya just give him $500 & let him keep his AR.
He is your son.

Huh?? Can you even say that to someone?

This is why my generation seems to have a denser population of deadbeats
(I’m 28.)

I think $1,000 is “fair enough” for both parties. I support your decision to not just fork over $500.

My dad wouldn’t have either. And I’m just fine.

I say it because in my family were givers not takers. We argue over who's going to pick up the check.
And yes I've given knowing that by doing so I'd probably go without. Maybe this is because I'm a believer. And possibly because I also know what it's like to have nothing. Been homeless, hobo'ed, hitch hicked, and ate meals at misions.
" No I don't give to people holding card board for a living" except maybe a bottle of water in summer & hand warmers in the winter.
And yes 700-1000 would probably be a fair price depending on scope if you had to put a # on it.

Now you don’t look as presumptuous and you offered a legitimate response to the OP.

Like children on this site. I mean that with respect of course. Tons of knowledge from these old timers.

If my dad were in your shoes he would take my rifle, and then make me pay him back for holding it for me! That’s tough love right there!

That’s a joke btw. My dad is much like you and gets annoyed when I sell and trade rifles. He thinks once you have them you need to keep them.

I just check GB they are selling between $700-$800. Nothing past $800 though.
