338 lapua loads??

I'm runnin' a Sako M42 in the standard 338 Lapua case. Been loading 84 grns IMR 7828 after a load buildup and gettin' around 2665 fps. Pressure indication are reasonable, slightly flat primers, no bolt lift issues. 1/2 moa at 400 yds so far and starting to go to the longer distances. I'm heavily invested in IMR 7828 right now.

Can I realistically expect to get an additional 150 fps from RL 33?

Sniper338 Matt is right about the R-33 , I tried it in my 308 Baer and can push a 230 grain Berger OTM at 3200 fps

I run it in a 338L imp (Yogi) with the 300s, recon I'll have to try it in my 300 Ackley now with the 230s, what's your barrel length on the Baer?

We ran RE33 in a Savage 338 Lapua and got 3000 with a 300 Berger. We ran it in a 338 Ultra IMP and got a hair over 3000. It got over 100 feet more in everything we put it in. Matt

Mshelton the barrel on my 308 Baer is 31" The next powder I'm going to try if spring ever gets here, is IMR-7828SSC I think it a lot Cleaner than the RL33! But I got good results with it in the 300 WSM with 230's.

Thanks, I'm curious how it'll stack up to 33, I've used the regular 7828 before but never the SSC variant.

Do you only shoot in warm weather?
[/quote]No if your shooting competition guns your wasting your time shooting in cold conditions. It is better to wait till it warms up closer to the temp you will be shooting in. It is costly to put rounds down a barrel and wear it out for nothing. The load could change when it warms up. Also the conditions at 1000 are usually a lot worse till it warms up. Matt

No he didn't say it but I knew it was. He lives near Oswego and has 5 feet of snow drifts and real cold. I was there when he shot that over the chrono. The most we could ever get out of the Baer was around 2800 to 2900 with a 240. That shows how much more the RE33 gives in that case. That's a 300 increase but some of it would be because the Sierra bearing is longer. That still is a big increase. Matt

People I never tried RL33 in the cold. But last September was when I shot it. The 308 Baer was loaded with 88.3 gr. with the 230 Burger OTM. And there were no pressure signs. But like I said before its DIRTY.

Whats your 338 lapua load... looking for loads for 300 gr bullets with either H1000 or Retumbo.... just getting ideas where to play at...
From the BERGER BULLETS WEBSITE in RELOADING DATA under INFORMATION tab:
http://www.bergerbullets.com/Reloading_Data/338Lapua300gr.pdf.
All of our 338 load data can be found there. Unfortunately it didn't make VOL 1 of the manual.
All loads are based on the COAL listed with the data. Load data is conservative and was generated using Quick Load.
