It’s an Ivey 175 MOA adjustable mount. The barrel as always will be a McGowen. Glass will be a NF 15-55x52 Competition with the FCR reticle.

I would really enjoy hearing more about your project. What barrel mfg'er are you going to use? What about optics mounting to get to 2K? The PTA will be a good platform to use.

Why would the XP be any less desirable or durable than a 700? I would trust an XP a lot more than a mag fed 700. The tenon on an XP is a little funky due to the front action screw, but some on other threads have determined that 4-5 threads is all you need. Seriously, all you have to do is mill a flat in the threads where the screw is located. That's the only concern I'd have as the front screw thread is only about 2-3 threads. There's a lot of XP's with huge cartridges. I've never heard of any reason to believe that action is inadequate. The XP-r is factory chambered in 350 Rem Mag.

Have you tried Retumbo and if so how are the velocities compared to RL33

The Ivey base is new just got it last week, no Rayner’s doesn’t have the room for 2k. I’m planning on going to Texas for a match this year.

No but there is a long range rifle match I thought I’d give a try with a handgun.

Things are starting to come together nicely, 1 barrel will be here tomorrow, all of the Nosler goodies will be here Friday and the 40MOA base will be done tomorrow also. This build should be completed first of the week then we will start working on a load.

I’m looking to connect at 2000+ yards in a long range competition. I was able to connect at 1760 with my 6x47 pistol on a 12” steel plate but that was really stretching it. I would also like to use a longer barrel but then it no longer falls into the handgun category as specified by the ATF so a tad under 16” it will be. I have been competing with these handguns for a few years and do quite well at our local 1000 and 540 yard steel plate matches. I normally use a 16” barreled 223 running 80gn Berger so I figure the 28 Nosler should be a little better.

I don't believe you're correct on the barrel length concern. As far as the ATF is concerned, a handgun /pistol will be just that, unless fitted with a butt stock designed to be fired from the shoulder. I, among others, have several SP guns with barrels longer than 16", because a long barel doesn't suddenly make it an SBR, it's just a longer barrel handgun. It get's a little front heavy if you go too long, but 16-18" on a center grip savage or XP is totally manageable. I run a 30-06 barrel on my savage striker and get over 2600fps out of a 17" barrel with 168AMAX.

Not sure, I’m going to be running Retumbo. Haven’t started loading yet, that will happen next week.

Mine cost $717 TMD. The accuracy of the dial up has been dead on so far but I have only taken it out to a 1760. I am planning on taking it out to 2400 yards in a couple weeks, I will have a better idea of just how accurate it is after that.
