Peterson Brass question...

Peterson Cartridge Company is by far the best brass mfg out there. They only need time to build there cartridge line up that they market. It takes time and $$$ to develop a new die set for a specific caliber. There is no place to go to learn how to do this. Lapua, Hornady, Winchester, you name it will not tell you how to do it, or the tricks and intricacy's of making a specific caliber. Given time they will become a very house hold name with reloaders. I am very fortunate to know Derek and be able to talk to him on a regular basis. I can say you will not meet a nicer Family then the Peterson's. Derek and His Father Terry are very caring, and considerate people. They care about their product and take extreme pride in what they produce. Derek is very creative and is making and trying new dies, lubes, you name it to get the best quality product you can purchase. Keep a eye on them as I know they are gonna be in the top three.

Im very glad they started. Now they just need 220russian and 6br to take over the world. Nobody buys as much brass as ppc shooters. May be less of em out there as a whole but we’re the only ones that go thru brass so fast we dont even have to anneal or clean it. Ill go thru 40pcs in a weekend 2 gun match and 80-90 if its got an unlimited 10shot 4 gun

Same here Dusty.I will use 24 on a 2 gun weekend, and another 12 for 2 days of practice. 5 years ago i had about 2000+ pieces in the house. I am down to 5 Gold boxes and 3 blue on 220 russian. I just sent an E Mail to Peterson and asked the question on availability. Some guys are using the new Norma and seem satisfied, but i had some web separating problems in the initial tests.

I still have a sleeve of the gold box- its either 10 or 20 boxes. I just use the blue box stuff now since its easy to just get a weighed box from hoehn or somebody and the boxes made no difference on 220r.

6BR is in development right now. 220 Russian I will ask Derek next time I talk with him. They have been tied up for the last month making a run of brass for a well named shooter, and just finished a big run of brass for IMI.

Thanks terry. Keep it 220russian and not formed ppc brass. That way it forms perfect in every different chamber

If you want to separate with the Gold box Lapua i'll take it off your hands for a fair price.

No its part of my vintage br stash. I went thru the old brass shortage forming ak rounds into ppc having to go thru 1k to make it thru a match, and using sako brass painfully. Ill never run out of ppc brass, powder or primers ever again.

Dave Bruno has been pushing me to get them to make 6ppc.

Thats fine too but with so many ppc chambers in use and most are tighter than what a ppc case would be not to mention the liability of making a case to shoot 80k psi it would be better for peterson to make 220 russian and lose that liability when we re-form it. I know all the other mfrs over the years that made actual ppc brass it never worked out for em due to the standard sizes. Most shooters bought one box then went back to lapua and i fear itll be the same way if they made ppc brass instead of 220r. Anything they did i would give em a shot and applaud their efforts

Just looking to restock the inventory. I told Ed Adams to get the fence post out of Butch's butt and get me some primers and brass for Best of the West. I bribe Butch with my F B Bullets. Last time i gave him some that he won a yardage @ the Cactus. Just looking for alternatives. I'm down to my last 40K primers.
