It must advance the throat, naturally, on the order of .010" (in my experience) depending on the condition of the throat beforehand. How did it shoot after adjusting seating depth and powder charge?Fortunately it was somebody else's barrel. It shot the throat out.

Hey guys. I am back.. Sorry took so long. So I ran into a benchrest shooter at the range, and he had a hawk eye bore scope. He scoped my 6 mm barrel, and guess what?? crown looks ok . but the throat is trashed. Said he never seen one that bad. snaked skin rifling or something. so, since then, I have been experimenting with lapping compound and jb bore shine on throat. Its shooting a lot better. I have a theory now if I can grind the throat away, and get the bullets to clear the throat area. I can keep going with it..he said rest of barrel is ok. I really have nothing to lose.
Like with flying, any lesson you (and yours) can walk away from ...I'm sure we can all recall some hard lessons learned with firearms ...
What do you do when your tires are worn out ? Just curious .Hey guys. I am back.. Sorry took so long. So I ran into a benchrest shooter at the range, and he had a hawk eye bore scope. "I'm betting he's got a 're-grooving iron'."
I've used those! Was part of my 1950's WV education.
I'm still trying to figure out what kind of gunsmith doesn't own a borescope???![]()
You guys are great. Yes it has been a hard lesson. One of the toughest ever. I am actually more hacked with my gunsmith who barreled it in the first place, for not warning me about the ss brushes .....But I am not willing to spend any more money on this gun. Its glory days are over.. its time has past. The stock has been rebidded about 6 times, and its super thin. Besides, its a hunting rig. All I do is shoot target now.. Plus I have 5 more bolt guns to keep me busy... brno mauser 220 swift 1in 9 twist.
Rem 708 Heavy bbl varmint special{1991) with vortex viper. Rem 1990s 3006.model 700{favorite caliber}. Win ranger 270 m 70{new rig}. Tc venture 22-250 5-r rifling. and a Yugo .....SKS.
Anyway, thanks for your input guys. I would sue the dipshits who make those brushes, but whats the use..
