ANSCHUTZ vs CZ

I can tell you this, I own and have owned both, the CZ will not be more accurate than the MPR, dont take that wrong I like CZ's for the price, whether the extra cost is worth it is up to each shooters expectations.

I don't doubt your experience but there are plenty of CZs more accurate than plenty of MPRs.

Lets hear from people that have OWNED/SHOT the two, anyone have actual experience?

Yah me. I bought my MPR from Carl at Champion Shooters a few months after it came out. Comparing a CZ to an MPR is like comparing a Ford to a Porsche. The MPR is a cleverly disguised Olympic compettion rifle. It is the same action and trigger as the Br-50 with a stock that works equally well for benchrest, silhouette, and high power position sling shooting.

My trigger is set to single stage now at about 4 oz. It can be set two stage. The CZ is a nice rifle, but it is a sport rifle. It is not even close to having the same features.

Thanks, that explains it clearly. Apples and oranges,I own a CZ and have never shot an Anshutz .

I have a 452 American that flat out hammers, I have a stainless MPR that shoots better than the 452( not much, but better ), and I'm on my 3rd. 455 Varmint and have not been able to get any of them to shoot to my satisfaction even after spending lots of money to get them to shoot. I also have a Friend that has a 455 Varmint that is outright outstanding. It will consistently shoot sub MOA at 100 yards, with it's preferred lot of Norma Match. Brian.

I own and have owned both the MPR will be more accurate as a rule I have owned over 20 CZs and 5 MPRs over the years none of the CZs were more accurate than the MPRs. Two of the CZs were fairly close I still have one of those.

I respect you post but I have never seen a CZ that was more accurate than a MPR. The Anschutz with proper match ammo will average less than .300”

Thanks for the info .I have a 455 training rifle, long pencil barrel and it shoots excellent. I was wondering just how much can be gained by jumping up to an Anschutz.

I’ve been shooting Anschutz’s for 45 years now and am lucky enough to currently have 7 in my safe. Never could convince myself to buy a CZ and I’ve tried more than a few times.

Lets not get carried away here fellas. The 64 MPR is a nice rifle (I just bought one), but it is not on par with a 54, 2013 or Fortner rifle. I may have had expectations that were too high, but it is nothing like a custom centerfire action or a very highend 22. It is noticeably nicer that a CZ455, which is noticably nicer than a Savage Mark 2. I am happy with mine, especially for the price, but it is the entry level Anschutz for sure. You can get what you pay for.

You can get aftermarket barrels for CZ that would definitely improve the performance, combine that with a stock and trigger and you have a nice little rifle. But how much have invested? If you want to supe up your CZ send it to djdilliodon, he does some good stuff.

Not to take away from the CZ455 - I use one for smallbore silhouette and it's a nice accurate rifle. It shoots 1.5" groups at 100 yards, which is great for 22lr. It needs to have the trigger reworked, and the barrel is pretty good. If you want to have it accurized with a nice barrel and aftermarket trigger, you'll wind up spending almost as much as an Annie.

Most of the folks I shoot with are way more experienced and almost all of them use an Anschutz of some kind. It comes from the factory with a way better trigger, and the craftmanship is nicer. From what I've seen, they're shooting knots with a factory barrel at 100 meters.

As is always the case with rimfire, there's a LOT of accuracy to be gained or lost by changing ammo. Every rifle responds differently to different brands of ammo. CZ makes great rifles, but I think it's pretty disingenuous to say that a 455 is better than a modern Annie.

I have owned a 452 for 20 years and is a absolutely fantastic rifle, very accurate and for field shooting is the bees knees which is why I have it still and what it was made for.

I also own 2 Anschutz rifles being a 2013 bench rest rifle and a 1570 HMR field rifle with both being more money to buy than a CZ but better built, exceptionally accurate and exceptional for their function but its just not reasonable to compare any of the three because of what their purposes are.

You may as well be comparing a .22 to a 12g IMO

DJ does great work, but personally if your gonna drop $1000-1500 in a 455 you’re better off buying the Anschutz. Unless you just enjoy the project.

The CZ is maybe the best value $$ for accuracy but I’d go with the anschutz if accuracy is all you care about (and the 64 is your limit in terms of cost).

This is just my experience.

I've owned five 64 action Anschutz rifles over 4 decades, there wasn't one of them, even of the sporter models, that didn't shoot well.

The MPR I used to own and my current favorite, a 1827F, both shot very good with a slight edge going to the Fortner.

On another forum there was a contest for six groups of 5 at 50Y and 100Y. A guy won shooting a MPR at 100Y with very small groups.

I owned one CZ, the varmint version, it functioned well but it was hard to put down 1/2 groups at 50Y and close to 3/4 was more like it with decent match ammo.

But I got beat at our last NRL22 by a guy with a CZ with a custom barrel. We both hit the 1" steel at 100Y, cleaning the rack, which is not easy, and we were the only ones.

I would say that it would give a 64MPR all it wants.

I got a Joe Chacon ABRA 10/22. It shoots as good as my Suhl 150 I had years ago. That Suhl would out shoot a lot of Anschutz 54's. But I do have more money tied up in the Douglas barrel 10/22. But still I never would of dreamt 12yrs ago a 10/22 could hang with my Suhl 150.
