There's more Toyota in that Prius, then in the Camry used in NASCAR.

6x6.8 is the way i plan to go. Black hole weaponry makes them and a few others. CH4D makes dies. There was a company loading factory ammo for it. 6.8 mag and bolt. BHW forum and 68forum have lots of info. 22 gallery is just 22x6.8 that they are getting saami for because 22nosler doesnt live up to hype, I've read. So no need to wait unless you just want to. For 80-85 and down bullets more speed than 6 grendle, after rhat you start eating powder space loaded to mag feed

I have to chuckle a little at this thread.

seriously, If you can't find .473 bolts, you aren't looking. I literally ordered another .473 AR bolt / barrel extension set yesterday for my next build, a 1:7 twist, 24" .224 upper for prairie dogs etc. based on the 6mm Dasher case.

My last build, (for hog hunting) is a .308 version, shoots like a dream, very long accuracy nodes, and just a tad faster than the 30 RAR, and just a bit shy of .308W. Think 308 X 1.5, except based on 6mm Dasher.

Look, ALL these cartridges are great. The more the merrier and to each his own. But, don't let anyone tell
you, it can't be done. Whatever it is you're looking for. Are there snake oil salesmen? For sure. But with the new propellant technology, etc etc, even the primer choices we have give us results we didn't see a decade ago. This is not to say you can't do
the exact same thing with the SAAMI options and do better yet, because you can, but you'll be shooting a bolt action or god awful heavy LR 308. Try shooting coyotes 3 at a time with a bolt action, or carrying a 11ty pound AR10 around for a while.

And oh, btw, if some stupid a$$ goth yerkoff decides to shoot up a school with a 300 OSSM or 25 WSSM or 30 RAR, (pray to the good Lord it never happens) but good luck telling people "it's not a AR" people don't give two hoots about barrel extension diameter. All they know is a black rifle is evil, and any infighting amongst those of us that appreciate the 2A hurts us all.

there are 473 bolts with a match bbl extention tested at full pressure
on the market. i got mine last year.
looking at either a 6br or a 30 br on a ar15 platform

If you want to know why the technology of "larger than mil spec" bolts and barrel extension has gone underground? There is one name to remember when you seemingly can't buy the bolts and extensions you need to build the "fat cat" wildcat ar-15 many of us have been dreaming of.

This company, patent troll extraordinaire, has singlehandedly put a stranglehold on intellectual property they -didn't invent or develop-, and -don't bother to build or sell-. Yep, they have a website, and guess what, if you have the inclination to google map the address listed? takes you too a -bail bonds- sales store front. Not $hitting you. Don't take my work for it, google them, and check it on google maps.

Meanwhile the folks that actually engineered, developed, improved the technology are boxed out, while the rest of us get into pissing matches about it.

no and no. These parts are being made, and (on a discreet basis) are being sold. And, If Mad Dog or Big Dog is selling them, yippy, I sincerely am happy to hear that. ! If you deal with them then you know some good folks. I personally shoot one of their uppers and am loving it.

As a side not, I heard from another person, an (ex) builder of these components that Kramer's hired help lurk this forum hoping to shut them down.

Honestly, my real mission here is to urge folks that want to build things like 22 Dasher and 6BR etc etc in an AR15 that it IS being done, -safely- VERY accurately and they simply need to not quit trying!

To make the 6br work in the ar15 upper you need to use a 308 barrel extension and the 308 bolt in an ar 15 carrier .

I get it that people have adapted a wide variety of stuff to the AR lower but, excepting the Young Mfg. bolt head (no longer available), none of the solutions can be considered an AR-15. As I mentioned earlier, one can get a single shot top end for a milspec AR-15 lower in .50 BMG. Anyone care to stretch the rubber band THAT far?

At what point in your opinion does it stop being an AR? Grendel bolts are opened up and deepened .010, does that disqualify it as an AR? A single shot upper for a lower isn't an Armalite Rifle-15, but I would say that anything you can fit in there that will function in semi auto is an AR.

Sure, $1,000 plus non-milspec uppers can be pinned to an AR-15 lower, but they are no more an AR-15 than a Remington 700 action is a Borden, or vice versa.

Robert Whitley gets almost $1400 for one of his uppers, is it no longer an AR?
