Good question, mine is an old Savage Anschutz 64, I believe Savage was importing around 1975. Mine is probably close to 40 years old and was a great entry level rifle. I mainly shot it against the Win 52's. I don't know if the 64 actions have changed at all over the years.

A better test of accuracy would require buying a large number of different brands and weights of ammo to determine the most accurate rifle. As far as the test, each rifle is suited to a different mission so my take is it's apples and oranges.
In comparison, I have an MPR in stainless and a shorter, fluted heavy barrel CZ 452 with set trigger, both in 17HMR. The Annie shoots more accurate than the CZ but I use the CZ since it is lighter and handier, I use it for varmints. The Annie's trigger is in another universe compared to even the CZ set trigger. The Annie I use for trigger time and bench practice. The Annie likes one type of 17 grain ammo and the CZ shoots the 20 grain the best.

From what I have learned from having several, Savage /Anschutz's were made by Savage in the US under agreement with Anschutz. Triggers completely different. On the other side of the coin Anschutz/Savage's were made in Germany by Anschutz under agreement with Savage. Anschutz/Savage are rare in the US.
Savage/Anschutz Examples: Mark 10, Mark 12 and some of the 54 sporter models. Can look the same but internals are different.
Once had a Savage/Anschutz sporter with a cracked trigger housing. Impossible to get a part or adapt an Anschutz trigger to it, Had to have a machine shop make it.

I was referring mainly to older Mark and sporter 54 models, but in any event Anschutz could not provide any parts for my 1960's Savage/Anschutz and that is what Anschutz told me.

I am not sure why Anschutz would tell you that the S/A were made in the US but as far as parts they do not support older models. only current and models from the 1800- current

This is correct. Anschutz at that time did not have very much of a presence in the U.S. so they had an arrangement with Savage to sell and mark the rifles Savage/Anschutz. Anschutz did not have a centerfire line and they sold the Savage in Europe as Anschuz/Savage. It was a win-win for both companies for a few years.

I have shot CZ's and Anschutz extensively.

Fast talking guy, but I have the following issues:

I think he has his woods mixed up. CZ will generally use beech and Anschutz walnut (of varying prettiness)

Was the ammo exactly the same for both? What was it?

Different scopes. The one on the Anschutz or the mounts or rail might have been a bit off.

In use of the 452 and 455, they don't compare to the Anschutz. This is my experience in a benchrest set up only.

Were test conditions exactly the same?

Both cleaned? Fouling shots?

As to the pull- with a simple $.80 spring change on the CZ, pull will get to about 10 oz. I seriously doubt that his CZ at 3 lbs. outshot the Anschutz. How many shots, within 3000 or so went down each barrel in their respective lifetimes?

I am quite skeptical of his assumptions, testing and results.

The only thing I agree with, frankly, is that the Anschutz is not a walking around rifle.

With CMP target Ammo at 50ft. it will shoot a 10 shot group that will cover with a dime.

I have also had many great 52 Winchesters and 1972 1413 that won a lot of Small Bore matches.

My MPR will do better at 50 YARDS. I wouldn't even bother to shoot it at 50ft., it wouldn't show me anything. Brian.

I have an Annie Exemplar pistol, 64 action, in .22. IIRC, I shot over twenty five different 22LR ammo to find the most accurate, some sort of Eley, next was Federal Gold Medal Ultra Match. The least accurate were the high velocity loads.

I think my custom Ruger MK ll will do that at 50 feet. A quarter will cover them for sure.

Got me thinking, I just checked my Savage Anschutz and its marked Savage, Westfield Mass USA * Anschutz, Ulm. West Germany on the action and made in West Germany on the barrel.

I was being nice, that test was a joke, any rimfire shooter knows a competent shooter off a solid rest would never test two rifles with the same ammo and call it a test. If its a good CZ and a good Annie I'm willing to bet I could make either one shoot better than the other by feeding it what it likes. If both are fed what they like I would put money on the Annie.

I also have a Mauser 201 Lux that is a tack driver, don't know if they were all like that or not.

A dime is a shade over 5/8". At 25', that ain't so great. CZ's specs for their 22's is an inch at 50 yards, per their gunsmith in Kansas City. They used to have this posted somewhere on line, but no more. If I was able to ascertain this gem of knowledge before purchasing both of my Cz's, I would have skipped them and gone straight up to an Anschutz.

I am acutely aware that rim fires shoot one ammo better than others. I was wondering of the guy in the You Tube did so or just used the same for each rifle.

I've always wondered why so many tests and comparisons are done, especially accuracy tests when the tester admits to not having the skill to take advantage of the guns? I thought he did a thorough job showing and explaining the differences in both guns and I've had shooters win at my longrange matches with both guns beating the other.

A lot of my competitors started off with CZ and other middle of the road guns and as their skills and desire increase they move up to an Anschutz. It's not always the top shooter with an Anschutz that wins but usually the top shooter is one with more experience that has worked his/her way up to a better gun.

My game is longrange so I can't speak for BR and what they use but experience with subtle changes between shots at far distances is the biggest deciding factor for our top shooters. Nearly all the guns will do 1/2" at 50 yards and the better ones usually cut a ragged hole.

I don't have many targets under 1moa out thru 197 yards so a good middle of the road gun is still competitive. I limit ammo costs at my matches to $8.00/50 and our better guns will do much better group wise with the high end stuff which is really noticeable at the smaller farther targets but this keeps everyone on a bit more level playing field since rimfire accuracy is for the most part ammo dependent. Each one is different and surprisingly a couple of our better shooters guns like the really cheap stuff..... go figure.

I can tell you this, I own and have owned both, the CZ will not be more accurate than the MPR, dont take that wrong I like CZ's for the price, whether the extra cost is worth it is up to each shooters expectations.
