More testing with the 6 BRA.

As I have stated before, my testing probably had too many variables. I have decided that my best load is 30.6 gr. of H4895 and Bart's Infinity off the lands .005". However, I have been playing with my Dasher and just put my BRAI barrel back on today. I had two loads for the BRAI already loaded, so I thought that I would zero the rifle at my home range (100 metres only). Like Bart stated a few days ago, I have been waiting for the weather to warm a little. The weather today warmed to a toasty 51 degrees with a variable SW wind up to about 8 mph. This is as good as we have seen, so I shot. My first group was with some rounds that I loaded about a month ago and featured Bart's 105 Gungnirs and 31.5 grains of Varget. These were seated to jump ~.020" and is the group on the right. The group on the left is with Bart's 105 gr. Infinity with 30.6 gr. of H4895. These were seated `.005 off the lands. I have loaded my last 50 Infinities (hint to Bart), but I need to test both of these loads at a longer range. Good shooting.....JamesDSCF2001 (1).JPG

Both groups look tight. You're 100% about some longer range testing though, see if you can get out to 500-600 and see how they stack up then. I would hope the VLDs shine through.

They are both VLD type bullets. The Gungnirs may have a little higher ballistic coefficient than do the Infinities.

I don't see them listed anywhere. Higher bc is always good if they shoot as tight
The Gungnirs are the bullets that Bart had a contest to name them. "Gungnir" was the winning entry. It is a Viking word for a spear that never missed its mark. They are not listed on Bart's web page yet, but give him a call to order some. 270-879-4279

I know how the Infinities shoot at 600 yards in the Dasher. I used them to win SOTY at Prince Range in 2016 and as runner-up in 2017. Also, I hold the range record for a single match shooting them. However, I am now learning to shoot the 6 BRA instead of the Dasher. I believe that either one will work for my purposes. James

it also sounds out the word "gun j neer" , kinda like engineer but gungnir. I have way to much time on my hands. :)

I've never come across Barts bullets in the F-class circle in Australia, so I'm not familiar with the differences between his bullets but I've continually read good things on here. Going off your trophy collection, I would imagine you'll have a relatively easy time of things choosing a bullet/load combo with the 6BRA. Just out of curiosity, with your benchrest shooting, do you consider jamming your bullets at all, or always start at the lands and work your way back in jumping?

I normally start at soft jam and work away from jam. I have found that most VLD's like to be jumped.......at least in my 4-groove .236 cut rifled barrels.

From the lands touch point, how many thousands do most consider a soft jam into the lands?
