What are you using for ammo boxes? At an OAL of 3" I can't close the lid on my ammo box.

Standard 30-06 boxes for .308's.

MTM RM-50 for my .308 using either the 185 Juggernauts or the 200.20X rounds. Very well made cases and you can buy in different depths in either 50 or 100 round cases.
