I had been shooting at 300 to test Varget and H4895. I found the best groups were around 30.2 to 30.8 grains of H4895. I have been wanting to do a ladder test at 1000 yards to confirm my load data I collected at 300. I went ahead with the plan to test these at 1000 with the ladder so I colored some bullets and also marked the shots with target vision. The wind was a little much for testing but new camera had encouraged me to try it anyway. I was out previously and working in also the 105’s to compare. I used my best load of 105’s with 30.5 grians of H4895 to practice my hold for drift. I tracked that I could see 3-4 minutes of wind. So I held ~4 minutes on the Vortex Golden Eagle ECR hash Mark. The POI was falling fairly close to my 3 minute mark.
Here is my practice target at 1000 yards to verify how much I needed to hold for wind. I felt pretty good about my hold so I proceeded to shoot my ladder @ 1000 yards with the 108’s about 3k off the lands.
Here is the ladder from 30.0 up to 30.9. .8 and .9 went just above this ladder test and beyond what I would consider to load so I didn’t capture that in the photo. Based on the numbers and wind changed I decided that ~ 3 minute hash on the Vortex ECR should be good spot to hold.
Here is the 1000 yard ladder test. I was pretty excited with this for the first ladder confirmation with the 6BRA! Very cool to see the ladder results and confirm the groups from my 300 yard tests and the results on the 1000 yard ladder. Happy that Santa brought me the Target vision camera so I can double check my sharpie marked bullets...
I felt pretty LUCKY for my first shot to clip the dot with 3 minute hold and changing bullets and velocity.
A few weeks prior I used the 30.2 load at our 300 yard FClass match. I shot a 600 with 51x. The 30.2 has never gone below below 2890’s (usually mid-90’s) with a fouled barrel in all of my test groups at 300.
.3 to .7 grains just a few inches total in vertical for 1000 yards.
