PTG Chamber Reamer

Has anyone here had a reamer from PTG Re-ground lately? I need to send one back in for a regrind (resharpen) and trying to get a ballpark on their turnaround time?

Thanks

What did PTG say when you called them? You did call them, didn't you?

Personally I'd rather have a mild case of the flu than try to get ahold of a representative on the phone nowadays.....push 1 for this..push 2 for that. For faster service, please enter your 16 digit account number. Please re-enter your 16 digit account number. If your account number starts with 0, you must enter the 0. OK. I found your account. Your balance is...(exactly what I'm looking at online). Your next payment is due (exactly when it says it is due online). Your last payment was (exactly what you paid). 20 minutes later you get a representative: Could I have your account number please?

Will these other guys regrind pt&g reamers
I have a 7mm-08AI that needs it.
The reason I ask is I think I heard that they don't like doing other shops reamers

I nominate this ^^^^^ for 'Best Post Of The Thread'.

How did this annoying drivel EVER become a substitute for customer service?

Manson will only if its actually ground on centers correctly which is a crapshoot

I find this . . . . disturbing. Can anyone say with certainty that there are reamers being sold from US based companies that are not ground on center?

I do not dispute this, but if it is happening, I'd like to know.

I have 6 or 8 PTG reamers (out of the 80+ chambering reamers I own). All have been able to be sharpened by Dave Mansons' shop. All needed sharpened/fixed when new. PTG was of no help. I bought all several yrs ago, have not bought any PTG since. Probably won't, not even if I am in a 'bind'.

People just won't listen. I'm just like Shortgrass most of my PTG reamers will chamber one barrel and after that it's touch and go. My Manson reamers cut like a steak knife in butter even after several chamberings.

Apparently you have never dealt with PTG. They have never come remotely close to meeting a quoted deadline they have given me over the phone in the last 5 years. That is probably why the OP is asking others about their experiences.

There are problems there at PTG It has a wide range of products Maybe too many for the amount of help there.
Gun sales, action building ,gun part,s auto parts, and machine shop tooling, it looks really really busy.
Maybe too busy, so customer service has gone the wayside.

So what do you call it when a manufacturer is knowingly providing substandard
tooling. People not getting what they pay for. Losing time and money re cutting chambers.
Then finally giving up and going to another reputable manufacture. And throwing a 200 dollar
junk reamer in the trash.
Hmmm, I"ve never had good luck with the front office placing orders...until I figured out who to ask for. Not saying that is a good thing, but there are some sharp folks available if you do enough business to figure out who. :-) Regarding their product, I have purchased over 30 reamers from them over a few years and never had a "junk reamer." Some cut like butter and some do not, but they all work and all produce good results. Do they hold precise dimensions, I don't know at this time. But I do know a zillion high scores and records have been set using their reamers. I've been thinking about trying JGS and maybe they will convince me to make a switch, but PT&G doesn't make junk, that's a bit overboard IMHO.
