6.5 300WSM questions

I'm looking to build a switch barrel gun. I am starting with 300WSM. Wanting to build a 6.5 caliber. Already have a 243 in the stable. Was looking for 6.5 for K.E. at distance and the better BC and wind bucking.
My question is...What is different between 6.5WSM, and 6.5 300WSM? Or is there no physical differences just wording.

Great cartridge! With the new heavy for caliber bullets that are available, it really shines. The last one I built was on a Remington 700 with a Bartlein Sendero Contour at 26" plus brake. I can't remember the exact load off the top of my head but with H-1000 it was pushing the Hornady 147s at exactly 3100fps at well under half moa. There was room for more speed but it didn't shoot as well pushed any harder. I have built 3 or 4 of these now and they all ended up running in the 3100-3150 range best with a few powders and the 140 class bullets. I have a friend that is a guide here in AZ and mainly does Coues deer. His rifle has killed numerous deer out a long ways and hasn't had an issue with the few elk it has taken either. He's running Retumbo in his and a 140 Berger at 3130fps.

3100 with a high bc bullet at less than half moa sounds like great hunting combo to me.

Are you guys reloading these with the bullets out to the lands as a single shot, or are you reloading to max magazine length for multiple shots in your hunting rifles?
Thanks

Just built one last night. $300 savage 12 in 6.5CM... chambered the barrel, opened the bolt and presto. The last one would drive 147s @3150 with ease.
