Scope mount advice wanted

I will be mounting a new to me, Leupold scope with a 30mm tube on my LR 308 rifle.
It currently has a 25 mm scope with an inexpensive mount.
I note that whenever I go to my local range, the settings are off, usually just a little.
I'm thinking that using a higher quality more rugged mount could solve this problem.
I look in Midway & the mounts go from under $50.00 to around $200.00.
Any experience with mounts in the $100.00 range that are rugged, or is it really worth
buying a more expensive mount? I do NOT want a quick disconnect or easily removed mount.

do you have a rail?

if not get one. egw makes an inexpensive one that works well. many more that work fine.

once you have a rail the choices are endless. personally i use the nightforce lightweight rings. Spuhr or badger ordnance are other choices

I have their 20 MOA bases on two different rifles that have Leupold 35X and 45X Competition Scopes. The EGW rails are stout, precisely made and work extremely well holding the high end Leupold 30mm rings. Works for me.

I have an egw rail and Burris xtr rings on 1 rifle and a warne rail and seekins rings on a different rifle with no complaints from either setup

Is anything getting loose anywhere?
Could it be the scope not holding zero?

Better quality couldn't hurt, but isn't always necessary.
Just my dos centavos.

On my target rifles I usually use Ken Farrell rings and base OR Warne tactical base with Leupold PRW rings......depending on the rifle's intended use. Both have been rock solid for me. On my hunting rifles, I generally use Leupold dual dovetail or Talley. Again, both of those have been solid too.

Inexpensive weaver style base and Burris Signature Zee rings is a good combo. The various rails are good and offer more adjustment as well as different amounts of built in angle for long range. But, the Burris rings can give that and frankly, I've never seen a weaver base fail. So, if you don't need the fore and aft options of a pic rail, I see no problem with the weaver style bases...and the Burris rings are awesome. They are problem solvers that work well and hold up. Jmho.

Partial to the Burris XTR Sig. rings myself.
I also concur with others the EGW rails are great.

Be sure to either invest in a good scope ring lapping kit or find someone/smith to do it for you for a nominal charge. Its a important step in scope mounting. :)

EGW & Burris Signature rings. The XtR's will give you up to 40 moa with inserts. Regular Signature are sleeker looking if the an issue. No ring marks.

+ 1... great combo that covers it all

Wheeler makes a kit for 1" and 30mm

I'll add my vote for the EGW rails, and Warne rings are affordable and built like a tank.
I'll second this recommendation. I have EGW rails and Warne steel vertical split rings on seven or eight (I forget...) different rifles and have never wished for more. It's a very solid set-up.

I opted for the Nightforce 20 MOA picatinny rail in STEEL. I don't care for the aluminum. Aluminum can deform while steel is more stable and I felt that it would also add stiffness to my action as the ejection ports on the Remington 700 seem large. I also like that is has the internal recoil lug that helps stabilize the mount and absorb recoil force. This runs about $116 but you can shop around for sales.
For rings I use the Burris Xtreme Tactical rings. These provide a very stable support for the scope and are precision machined. I have had absolutely no issues with alignment or support. After a year of service and over 2000 rounds, I can see no issues and the tube looks brand new. These go for about $56-$65 depending on the height you require.
