Hornady needs to make 30gr bullet

I was about to build a .17 until I found out TOdd Kindler sold his bullet making equipment and we lost his line. The availability of bullets keep me from it.

Of his bullets in particular? There is lots of .17 available, custom or mass produced.

Yea it sucks Ive got a handfull of 17's that love them ( one that doesnt) and Im not sure what to do now. Are the reeds a good coyote bullet?

Chan Nagel, Blackhole bullets, Reeds, and one more that I can’t remember make at least up to 30’s, some of those heavier.
I've seen Nagel and black hole. Don't know about reeds. Kindler bullets had a great reputation from everything I've read. Didn't know he quit making bullets until about a 10 months ago I bought a 20ppc from him. Haven't ruled out a .17 just not much info on above mentioned bullet makers I can find

I sure wish someone would begin manufacturing Kindler's 30gr HPBT or one like it ..... as long as they produce them with the same degree of consistency. It was definitely in a class by itself as were all of his bullets that I tried. I figured sure that some younger than I person would have tried to buy the dies and revive his line of 17 bullets.

I have tried a few of the Reeds, but not enough to render judgement on them. I've shot enough of them to know that I'll have to buy a box and do load development on them to see if they are competitive with Kindler's 30 golds on paper, and across the chrony, then try em out on chucks, and coyotes. But all that's going to take a while. WD

There was a group buy a few years back on another forum. The guy contacted Berger to see if they were willing to make the bullets and for what price. Then he posted the details and once there was enough commitments he ordered. Everyone sent payment to the guy and he shipped the bullets. It gonna be spendy. They don't make the jacket anymore for those bullets so the order has to be big.

Are you sure that they no longer make the jacket (or a jacket) that size? WD

Their website shows a .560" jacket as their sole offering for .17's. From the research I did a few years ago I found you need one about .630" or so. It's been a while so I may be mistaken on the length but I remember it was longer than the one they currently make. At the time they would make the jackets but the minimum order was 100,000.

Still have my stash of Berger 30's from twenty+ years ago. One very accurate bullet, custom made for the 17 Rem.
