Ace hardware spring

so, I went to the local ace and asked for a “144 ace hardware spring”, for my Cz 455, and after a lot of searching and me showing him many threads, he still had no idea what I was talking about. He said all his parts are 5-7 digit part numbers. Any ideas?

I've read about the #144 spring over at RFC for years. Never saw one myself. I think it must be an inventory designation from a jobber box assortment.
Don't let the lack of information deter you. I've replaced 4 or 5 CZ 452 springs and springs on 2 Anschutz by simply taking my old spring to the hardware store and finding one with the necessary similar dimensions (internal diameter of the coil) and the dimensions I want to change (usually the wire diameter). I always buy 3 springs so I can experiment with cutting down the length. If I cut too much to get reliable functioning I've got a couple extra to play with.

I might have an extra. PM me your address and I will mail it to you if I can find it.

Are the bushing or roll pins in the yodave kit necessary or will the spring swap get the results I’m after.

It depends on the amount of creep in your trigger. All I needed was a spring swap to reduce the pull weight. One of my friends had to use a bushing to reduce creep.

ACE changed over its stock # system a few years ago. Take your spring to ACE and match it up with one that is slightly thinner. The worst that will happen is you will be tossing out $.30. I THINK the stock number in the picture above is the new numbering system.

Went to ace, with the pic above, did not have it, said that they would order it, two weeks out, other store 25 miles away in lander didn’t have it. Said hell with it and went yodave route. Should work. Thanks for all your help!!!!

Heck, had you asked I’da grabbed two or three & mailed ‘em to you for a couple bucks in stamps back!

Yeah, got the yodave in, zero creep now and very light pull. On my rifle I cannot use the lightest spring. Used the second to lightest spring and blue bushing which is the second to thinnest. If I drop the rifle from about a foot down onto my foam floor mats it will break. So I may heavy it up a notch but it’s really nice. I don’t have a pull gauge but I’d say 1 pound. Not quite a jewel feel but damn close. HAPPY
