one only shoots short bullets seated out far enogh to avoid them?
I agree. Keep the bullet ahead of that neck/shoulder junction. I believe donuts can form ,then, but not effect accuracy. What I have read is that it doesn't matter as long as your bullet is seated short of the doughnut.
do donuts matter...
I think they are only a problem if you seat deep enough to contact it with the bearing surface.
Decades old theory........prove that the subtle restriction imparted by a formed donut in reasonable case forming (6 mm to 30 or .224 to 6mm) affects accuracy due to impeding the gas flow at the neck. And don't quote some manufacturer(s) who use this unproven theory as part of their advertizing.Reloaders have given themselves an exemption; I do not want to cause a restriction in the neck of the case because the inside diameter of the neck controls gas escape.

And then there are donuts that form donuts when fired, some reloaders push the donut in some push the donut out, again, there is something about donuts reloaders do not understand.
It seems like with full length resizing, the more the shoulder is set back, the more brass with be forced into the shoulder and neck. Without a resizing ball to reform the inside of the neck, you'll get a donut in that area.
I'm fairly new to this forum, but what is F.Guffy's deal? Is there a way to put someone on "ignore"?
Just tell him you're the foremost expert on bumping shoulders on brass.I'm fairly new to this forum, but what is F.Guffy's deal? Is there a way to put someone on "ignore"?
