Got new 8 twist Tikka 22-250 need help with loads

So Ive got my special run Tikka 8tw 22-250 & now Ive gotta figure out where & what to start with. So far I have 75gr ELD match, buying Barnes 62gr TTSX & New Nosler 55gr E-tip to start with. I have a ton of different powders but load data isnt easy to come by, if anybody has ideas fire away I've gotta get this rifle ready for Idaho whitetails
 
How far do you want shoot? I shot a doe last year at 380 yds with my 223AI and 75gr amax 3000 fps. I had a pass thru and she went 70-80 yds. I also shot a 200lb + buck with 65 gr SGK same results. I like to use powders that aren't temp sensitive. I have shot my 8 twist 22-250 to 600 yds for groundhogs with 75gr amax @ 3280 fps they were dead but just had a small hole in and out. The 1st deer I shot with a 75gr amax left a blood trail Stevie Wonder could follow the rest not so much. I know a lot of guys like the ttsx bullets but I haven't tried them. I would try hunting type bullets first as I am not sold on the amax even though I have never lost a deer when I used them. I would also stay away from the 55gr bullets, as there are better choices.
 
Id like to shoot 600-800 yds depending on this rifles accuracy. Im in a bit of a bind cuz CA is going lead free for hunting next year thats why I was looking at Barnes or E-tips but honestly Id like to shoot the Higher BC bullets. I just saw Hornady has a 70 GMX out. I have 2 other 22-250's but they are 14tw & 12tw. I got the 8tw gun to take advantage of the new 22 cal bullet technology. This rifle will be my do all coyote,deer,bear & hog gun! Looking forward to getting started with the heavy bullets
 
With that twist shoot 80 or 90 gr Sierra's. I do and they shoot great. Don't waste that twist on lighter bullets. You could shoot the 69's out of a 1 in 12.

Hey Paul & yeah my shots on deer will mostly be 450 & under. I've gotta send that pic of my 22-250AI Custom Tikka that I had you flute the barrel & bolt its a bad rifle!!!
 
I too ordered one of these. I just loaded up some 75 gr AMAX in Lapua brass using RL-15. I loaded them in .4 gr increments up to 33.3. I measured the length to the lands with a Hornady gauge and came up with an OAL of 2.640 (2.109 ogive length).

Oh very nice! Thanks for the info I'm still learning on this fast twist 22-250 stuff. I'll have to see if i can find my modified case to see if mine is similar to yours
 
I don't use my 22-250AI for deer, definatly a varmint rifle. I'm using Reloader 17 pushing 55 vmax's and having great luck. I'm at 39.6 grains and that's the limit. You'll want to start off a couple grains lower and work up to it. RL17 really maxes out velocity.
 
Well I got some range time in & The RL17 & 75 grain ELD combo pretty much was a shotgun blast for a five shot group. Although the 63 grain sierras shot real well with 4064 just not what i want to shoot. back to the loading bench
