UBR nationals somerset, ky sep 2017

Is there some organization or governing body to $ join $ to have a range be able to put these shoots on? I looked on the site but maybe just not hard enough.......Thanks

Regards
Rick
As of now, the shooters do not have to pay a membership. The clubs pay $30/yr and a small fee per shooter at a match, to be member clubs. It's been a goal of UBR to make it as easy and affordable as possible for both the clubs and the shooters. Novel idea there! ;)
For what it's worth, we met and discussed a few topics at the Nationals. One of which is applying for and becoming a non-profit entity.

Tried to copy and paste details about the UBR caliber neutral scoring system but was not successful. Here's a link to the site(which needs a facelift) but explains the scoring system in detail and tells why and how the system is fair for anyone shooting a 22, 6mm or a 30 cal.

There's a class for everyone, including factory, as well as classes that accommodate modified factory rifles, full custom rigs and an unlimited class for anything else, including rail guns.

I am planning on bringing this format of bench shooting to Kettlefoot in Bristol Va.. in the spring. Will be doing regular matches and money matches..

That's great news and I plan to attend a few when you get up and going. Thanks for doing this! Kettlefoot is a first class facility!

There are 2 great ranges here ( and i am sure more ) in the Pgh. Pa. area that i go to matches at that would be great sites for such a match. One is in McDonald and the other is outside of New Castle called LCSA. I am not associated through membership to these club but often have the pleasure to shoot at them. I think the UBR format would go over well out here.........Hint...Hint......;)

Well then go for it!!! Best Benchrest game around. Easy to get set up, if you want to get it going contact myself, or anyone that shoots it, we are all happy to help!! More ranges=more shooters to the sport. I would love to see UBR grow 1000%. We need to grow the sport anyway we can, and I feel UBR is the way to do it.
I have a 9 year old and a 12 year old, they both have shot for awhile, just now getting them into benchrest. This is a family sport, all very fine people, some of the best I know. I have never meet a stranger. We are planning to shoot Saturday as a family!!!

FWIW, we talked about some of these things at our meeting at the nationals this past weekend. For one thing, the website needs a face lift and updating. As with most things, time and volunteers are needed to make a lot of things even better. Something that the website does not currently reflect is just how much and how fast this game is growing. The site just lists a few ranges as being sanctioned clubs but, and this is a shocker..IIRC, Danny, the current owner and HNIC(no offence intended) of UBR told me that UBR matches are currently being held in 23 states! Some of those clubs are not sanctioned member clubs. I would strongly encourage those clubs to pay their small $30/yr fee and allow their shooters who compete there to contest for national points and records. I simply don't see a good reason not to do this.

UBR is , was, and will be about the shooters! This is a founding principle of the organization and is a huge part of why it is seeing such growth in such a short period of time.

The organization is at a crossroads where it is about to grow into elected(by the shooters) officials and bylaws. With this growth and need for help, there will likely come costs. That said, the shooters at the meeting discussed moving forward with becoming a non-profit org that will put whatever money it receives back into the shooter's interests.

I also strongly encourage everyone to actively campaign for your local clubs to hold sanctioned matches in your areas and to have your role in saying which way things go forward.

YOU/WE are the reason for this sport and it's growth, and should have a say in how it goes forward.

I've been touting how great this organization of shooters is since its inception. I hope you'll come to a shoot near you and see what I've been talking about..and become active within the organization and your club. --Mike
