FWIW, we talked about some of these things at our meeting at the nationals this past weekend. For one thing, the website needs a face lift and updating. As with most things, time and volunteers are needed to make a lot of things even better. Something that the website does not currently reflect is just how much and how fast this game is growing. The site just lists a few ranges as being sanctioned clubs but, and this is a shocker..IIRC, Danny, the current owner and HNIC(no offence intended) of UBR told me that UBR matches are currently being held in 23 states! Some of those clubs are not sanctioned member clubs. I would strongly encourage those clubs to pay their small $30/yr fee and allow their shooters who compete there to contest for national points and records. I simply don't see a good reason not to do this.
UBR is , was, and will be about the shooters! This is a founding principle of the organization and is a huge part of why it is seeing such growth in such a short period of time.
The organization is at a crossroads where it is about to grow into elected(by the shooters) officials and bylaws. With this growth and need for help, there will likely come costs. That said, the shooters at the meeting discussed moving forward with becoming a non-profit org that will put whatever money it receives back into the shooter's interests.
I also strongly encourage everyone to actively campaign for your local clubs to hold sanctioned matches in your areas and to have your role in saying which way things go forward.
YOU/WE are the reason for this sport and it's growth, and should have a say in how it goes forward.
I've been touting how great this organization of shooters is since its inception. I hope you'll come to a shoot near you and see what I've been talking about..and become active within the organization and your club. --Mike
