rumors of scope failures at F-Class Worlds

I've got little respect for someone who throws out allegations without any concrete evidence to substantiate what they are saying; claiming a company is making 50-60% profit of off every scope they sell is but another example of this. You've got absolutely no Idea what Vortexes fixed costs are and no idea what their profit margins are. Pathetic baseless accusations.

Vortex actually does have very high margin on their products, higher than most in the optics world.

Any scope can "fail".

Most scope "failures" I see working in the industry are operators of the optics not knowing how to use said optic.

I've had people return and want to send in optics from all brands I sell. With only few exceptions, it was operator error or operator stupidity or operator ignorance on the product that caused the perceived problems.

There are also a number of optics companies that have the same type of warranty that Vortex does, they just don't use it as a sales technique.

Lots of good optics right now. And I seriously doubt multiple Golden Eagles "failed" at one match.

Rumor has it Tasco has had the least failures in F-CLASS and BR the last couple years.. Personally I feel this rumor is true..

My first F-class scope was an old 6-24 Tasco. Used it on my Silhouette rifle for a long time. It's older than I am.

Japanese made.

It's amazing how it it clicks up and down. Tracks as good as anything I own now.

Too bad the new ones aren't as good.

Arnold Jewell has disassembled many scopes and said the Tasco had the best tracking. He drew me a little sketch of why Leupolds don't track well.

One thing is for sure. If you go to your local Cabelas you'll see the shelves of the Bargain Cave lined with Vortex's. Returns from customers are the reason. What a reputation to live on!

Well, I aint defending one scope one way or the other, in fact, I have my favorites and I have my brands that I would never buy...just like everyone else. But, I will say this...if i'm out shooting and the wind is switching back and forth making me miss I am positively going to blame it on the scope!!!

That's a pretty specious argument. Did you buy that super-size brush at Home Depot? I can probably only think of about a million examples of the same argument to make a statement about any business I like. Any business with a huge product line, to cover all levels of affordability, is going to good and bad stories out there.

I can only defend what I use, and in the Vortex line, that's the Golden Eagle and the AMG HD. Neither have given me any problem, with thousands of rounds on the Golden Eagles by now. If you are going to bash on a company here, you better have some actual facts and not just hearsay with a bucketful of logical fallacies and innuendo to make your case with.

Vortex has the best warranty that I've heard of, no questions ask fix or replace. Price and warranty is what made Vortex. I've never heard of a scope Vortex did not warranty.
They put pressure on other scope companies.
Why wouldn't a company use their warranty to sell scope ? It's what they are in business for, to sell scopes.
What other optic company has as good of warranty ?

Hal,
I'm sorry, I wouldn't buy a product because of warranty. Performance is what counts.

Everybody's gonna go back and forth about this. It boils down to ford vs chevy to me it's just like barrels I have heard at one time or the other some body bitch about every barrel out there, buy what your gonna buy and leave it at that.

I'll agree with Jay. I have used two Vortex scopes ....one from each end of the price range. The Golden Eagle is an excellent scope and I have used it and really appreciate its quality. I won the July 600 yard match using it against some great shooters with quality equipment. The other scope is on my grandson's .243 deer rifle and it came as a part of a package deal and does well for a cheap Chinese-made promotional scope. The Golden Eagle is made in Japan and is a premium product. James Mock

It seems to me that some will bash a product without any personal experience with it. I have tested the Golden Eagle on a Hood scope checker and I have shot and won with it in the heat of competition at 600 yards. It is a quality scope.

I came back from Canada with some extra match rounds. took the competition rifle with the Vortex Golden Eagle on it out to 100 yds today to shoot some of those extra rounds.

Of course in Canada, the windage and elevation turrets got a big workout, going from 700 to 900 meters back and forth and adjusting for the crazy wind changes. the rifle and scope got bumped around a bit in transport to and from the Land of the Canucks and SE Florida as well.

I reset the scope to my 100 yd zero and the point of impact was EXACTLY were it was prior to my trip to the Canadian Nationals and the Worlds. very happy with the scope.

I have the Vortex Golden Eagle, my first Vortex product.. I got about 200 rnds on it, it seems good and tracks well.. My new rifle is holding 2.5-3" vertical the last couple Groups at 1k.. I don't have experience with their warranty, but if I had to use it very often I would send it packing.. If I had to choose between a good product or a good warranty I would choose a good product..

I feel a company that is taking care of their customers as well as Vortex probably takes pride in the products they sell..
