Which reloading press??

Not sure if I need to upgrade this... Im still using a RCBS rock chucker, or chucker supreme..? I find it has some wiggle in it and im not fond of it when im trying to resize, or expand necks..

Whats the best press to get thats solid and has no play, where I can rest assure that the piston is going perfectly up and down with no extra motions in it?

On a side note, I may have just worn it out some by now... no telling how many tens of thousands of rounds have gone through it lol.. used to even reload pistol rounds 1 by 1, each step.. by the 1000...

Best press... educate me!

I'm still trying to wear our my RC press but I have heard good things about the Lee Classic Cast and the Redding Boss. I think if I were to get another I would try the Boss.

How do the cases measure after resizing? It could be more of a set up problem than press wear issue. Expander balls can cause lots of problems.

All my four boys have different flavors of reloading equipment.....one of them is RCBS,we snagged a whole "kit"(one pce at a time) off epay as his wedding present. It was all vintage. His press is a '67.Just sayin, you could do a lot worse than RCBS.

I'll have to agree with JRS that a little wiggle is a good thing to a point. After all it's the die that does the setting case while the press merely gets the case to the die. There is some movement with regard to the case in the case holder and this to allow the case to align with the die. Now, if the press is sloppy and not efficient, that's a different horse.
If there's a problem with the linkage, a creative machinist can take care of excessive play.

Heck I spin my press shafts so they wiggle . Having the die align the case is the best way to eliminate runout . Having a rock solid shaft COULD force the case to be pushed . Take a good look at a reloader / competitor at your next BR Match .
I eliminate the shell holder spring also .

In my opinion Co-Ax for sizing

And an arbor press with wilson dies for seating

I have.a harrell combo press for a portable setup. But i prefer my co-ax and 21st century shooting hydro press

I seat with wilson dies and 21st cent hydro press... just resizing, expanding, and decapping on the rcbs press

A press that I have been very interested to see in person is the MEC Marksman. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/467697/mec-marksman-single-stage-press

I like how it's a "C" instead of an "O", but retains strength. Read a review once that it can be finicky when seating due to the floating shell holder that would seem to hold merit, but I don't believe much from the interwebs.

Redding gets very good reviews and is still made high quality. Those would be the two that I'd look at, but my pacific won't die.

I am by no means the greatest shooter in the world, but I have yet to outshoot the ammo made on my tuned up Dillon 550. And it sure is faster than the competition.

Sniper,
I've used a Rockchucker for years and had good results. When I joined the ranks of Benchrest Shooters, I switched to the Redding Big Boss and added both Harrell Presses that are very precise. Something you might consider is adding the Harrell as like you, I use a Sinclair Arbor Press and Inline Wilson Seater Die to seat bullets.

This thread is pertinent to my interests. I've used a rockchucker supreme for many years. I am interested in a turreted press and I am interested in hearing some reviews of them.

I just started reloading. But my RCB JR3 handles the dirty work and the Foster handles the labor. I like having 2 presses and the Foster has good leverage for resizing.

Over the years, I have collected and still use Rock Chucker, Co-Ax, Redding Big Boss & T-7 and a Lee Deprime press. I don't have a favorite as they all do their job well. My house is 2 miles from my range, so I don't load at the range. I guess you just buy what you want, great choices out there.
