Not sure why the "prototype" reference, they have been out a while and are being shot. It is, I believe, a 5R configuration. I have an HV blank that Jack got me but I have'nt even had time to put a scope down it for a look.
The ones that I've seen have shot pretty good with a variety of bullets.

I feel 4 groove is it for long range personally.. I'm not really on the 5R band wagon, just wondering of the reason for Hart's leap from the Ol' 6 groove?

Right, that's why about 99% of the top 20 at the Super Shoot use them.
P.S. The Ol' 6 gooves have been balanced by the Ol' 3 grooves out of that shop for over 10 years now.

Long range? Super Shoot was short range the last I knew.. You don't see a lot of Hart Barrels in Long range.. Hart use to rule point blank..

It helps if you actually remember what you typed.

Thanks for the attitude buddy, I guess questions are insulting to you..

Yet I don't see the top 20 in long range being 5R..

Interesting, I typed I feel a 4 groove is it for long range and you quote this and mention the top 20 in point blank.. Yet "I" should remember what I typed..lol

Ray....buddy......work with me here. Re read your post. It does not take a rocket scientist to interpret it as 4groove are long range barrels INSTEAD of short range. You're answering questions nobody asked.

I was just stating my opinion, as I shoot long range.. I have not read these are "R" as in 5R, just 5 groove.. There isn't much info flying around about Hart these days, thus the questions..

IT is a 5R . . Jack just started making them. one of them won the super shoot this year.
For what it's worth I have a 308 barrel that can shoot dot,s if I do my part and it's Hart .
My other 308 is a 12 and it's one of my long range rifles it is an excellent shooter built on a 40X repeater course rifle Hart barrel.
These are just the standard ones

Update on this thread...I spoke with Karen today re: whether these are 5R type or conventional land. She said these are conventional, not 5R. Currently offered in 6mm 8" and 14" twist, 6.5mm 8" twist, 7mm 8" twist, and .30 10" and 12" twist.

You might want to talk to Jack. In 6's I believe he is doing them both ways .

This (see below) was done entirely with Bartlein five groove standard land (not canted) barrels. My point is that they are made both ways. I have not heard of much success with PPCs using canted. I own two. A Broughton and a Rock Creek. Like many others I will be interested to hear more about the Hart five grooves.

Benchrest Nationals October 2016.

His 4 gun agg. was .2111″ (for 310 rounds fired at 100/200 yards combined for record)

He won the 2 gun, 3 gun and 4 gun

Why not call them Ray? Karen is nice and answers the phone. It is not far from 518 to 315...

The Hart is a 5 groove conventional-ish. I spoke with the guy who designed and made the button, but cant remember his name now. 10 degrees more cant than conventional. That doesn't put them in the 5r category in my book. Should have one here any day.
