I have a "stand alone" room off the garage. It is completely self-contained. In the subdivision where I live, several houses have this room and they are mostly used for storage from overflow from the garage. Well I installed a solid-core wood door with a deadbolt lock. At one end I had a loading bench w/cabinets and shelving built. Additionally I bought one of those "diamond plate steel" cabinets for additional storage. I placed a "floor standing portable" A/C unit 15K BTU with the exhaust directed out to the garage. It keeps the room very cool and it blows hard enough to effect the FX-120i scale I use. So early mornings are when I load because I have to shut off the unit. But as far as brass prep etc.. the unit stays on all the time.. Works great..

I do my loading in my small shop (22x28). I keep the shop at 78F and the temps here have been in the high 90s and above. Yesterday it was 105F outside but the shop is quite comfortable. My two car garage is kept at 80F so we can hang onions and garlic until we are ready to dehydrate them. The mini-twin head heat pump keeps the temperatures in livable range all year.
Can't you redirect the airflow? I have a window A/C not 2 feet from my FX-300i (same scale with more capacity) in a 10x12' room and I can load anytime.
Yes Sir I can. However, it blows hard enough that it hits a wall, travels along the ceiling and still moves enough air to "bounce" the digital readout on the scale. I simply have to shut it off. The room is only 8 foot by 14 foot. There is no room for the air movement to dissipate..
Some reloaders sit the whole scale and tricker inside a box with just the front open. That should help. Just a big cardboard box (maybe 12" x 12" x 14-18") to test and if it works, get something better. I'm sure you have the breeze screen and top on the scale, except for one panel to load from. I made a modification to my scale to help with the breeze problem. You can do it with replaceable parts so nothing is altered on the scale. It's a much smaller area for air to push on. This is easy to do but cost $40-$45 in parts. Try the box trick first as it's free.

I live in NY. I understand lack of space and being relegated to a garage. I just want to point out that perhaps a twenty or twenty five year old can tolerate heat better than a seventy year old. Spare room, if available with air conditioning is best. It beats the hell out of the alternative.

JDJ .... what type of small A/C are you running? Thanks for all the comments so far. Y'all are sparking the idea machine (Ford moment - light bulb). So far portable AC with hanging clear rubber strips is forming in my mind. Like the receiving area at truck distribution centers. I could move indoors but it would make things more cluttered than I care for. I've been working with explosives for over 50 years for the defense industry and clutter is a big no-no for me. Just bad Ju-Ju. And, yes I am retired (63) so schedule allows for evening loading, which is tolerable. Any other portable AC users out there? Aint leaving Florida with no state taxes.
