Varmint killing Dilema

Not sure if ground hogs are like rock chucks, in that they are easily wiped out in an area. I know serious rock chuckers will not share their spots and will not hit a spot too often or kill too many. However, rockchucks typically dont live in areas that they cause harm to anything either.
They absolutely can with dedicated hunting and Coyote's. I try to never shoot the females if possible unless I know there are multiple breeding pairs in an area. I just smacked four of them this morning, 3 pups and a mother.

I am done with this hole for the year as there are at least 3 full sized adults and 2 more pups that I saw today....film coming. Hopefully with the adults and young ones they will rebound next year and be even more plentiful.

Late to the "party" here but to paraphrase Josey Wales "the hell with them groundhogs, buzzards gotta eat, same as worms". In other words, KEEL THEM!

Looks like a couple got snertified.

I had a farm that produced over 600 chucks in 15 years. I shot between 30 and 110 a year. I only shot 1/2 the land-mass of the farm due to housing nearby. it still produces 30 a year even now that they went "organic" and have over grazed it, abused it and left it to dandelions.

Even though the farmer wanted them all shot, it just was not feasible. ;)

That little vartarg is impressive

Took this one at 350 in a stiff breeze. One shot for a wind call, 2nd shot - THUMP

Chuck and a pic back to the truck

This year I am at 23 already which is good.

Well let's get together late summer for a week and travel around and kill chucks.

Get some of the active PA guys

I would say yes, but as the newbie in town, I have no places to offer and until I do, I cannot be a free-loader. Just not the right thing to do. I could offer a bit of ice fishing in NY in winter....and a free place to stay on the lake...but I am not an ice fisherman so anyone taking me up on it better know what they are doing!
