I'm trying to diet, and I'm over there last night sampling Syrup, yum!

Here are a few pictures.

My friends and a few locals doing some heavy looking on. There might be a few beer flowing. Also the theme is maple, so maple liquor is welcome.

Boiling in progress. We have been known to steam some hotdogs and pour some syrup on them. Yum!

Young Abby reheating the syrup and bottling.

My young bride eating vanilla ice cream and maple syrup. Outstanding!

Please don't post this anymore....I could drink one of those stainless buckets full in one sitting!!!! One of the whisky companies decided to make a maple syrup flavored whisky...I am now just this side of a full blown alcoholic!!!

There's nothing finer than (real) maple syrup.

The French Canadians use it as an ingredient in cooking - even in savory dishes. If you try it, you'll be back for more!

I grew up doing this every spring and my parents and neighbors still get together and collect sap as a group and boil off at my folks. This was a very poor spring in northern WI and it's all but done. They typically would get 40-50 gallons of syrup and this year was all of 13 gal. So they tapped some birch trees as they run later and they're going to see how that syrup tastes. Yield is a lot less but they enjoy it and it keeps them active. There is nothing like REAL maple syrup. My wife always said she didn't like it until she had the real thing. Corn syrup is not a very good substitute.

Knob Creek smoked maple! OMG! Need me a 55 gallon drum!

Living within 50 miles of most of the best KY Distilleries, and with two new ones in my county alone, I look forward to this recipe. I will substitute Maple Syrup for the honey, and acquire some Knob Creek Smoked Bourbon for the "active" ingredient.

GotRDid.

Oh no.....in about 6 months, if it takes that long, I will be not only an alcoholic, but a 450 pound alcoholic!!!!!

I made some syrup in 2014 and ended up with about two gallons. Fortunately, syrup keeps forever as I still have several quart jars of it. People don't appreciate the amount of work that goes into the process and the time involved. Great hobby, unfortunately the season is so short.

1948 I found out about maple syrup . I tapped 11 trees around the school and the village and we boiled it down in a big cast pot our school 1 to 8 grade had 15 students . Nothing is better then syrup boiled or made with wood . I still have a couple of the homade spiles.
The town my brother live in has the maple syrup festival in Michigan
Great stuff but nothing is better then smoke flavored homade . Larry

There are a lot of Vermonters that would 100% agree with you. Of course the larger operations have no choice but go to oil.

I've been looking at the "Big Green Egg". Wonder if anyone ever put Syrup in a smoker?

Happy Easter everyone!

Just so you know, PJ has been making frequent trips to the Post office with a big smile on his face. They spent a lot of time and money upgrading their operation. New pipeline, building for vacuum pump and tank, and upgrades in their sugar shack.
Every order is greatly appreciated.

Enjoy this day, and God bless!

One thing, they do wedding favors. Little bottles of syrup. Huge hit!
I just got back from the farm. They were making maple cream.
