Barrel for 6BR build

I am having my first 6BR built and would appreciate input on what you guys with more experience than myself prefer as to barrel type (4 groove cut rifled, 5R cut, or Broughton 5C) and length.
Rifle will be used for some local 600 yd F Open matches.

I understand that the 4 groove vs 5R has been beaten to death...but specifically for the 6BR with 105's is there a preference?

Here are the build specs:

BAT MB action
McMillan FClass stock
Broughton 5C 1-8" twist 1.250 contour (already had this barrel)
Jewell

Should I try the Broughton or get a Krieger 4 groove? 28" or 30" length?

Any help on this would be appreciated.

I'm in the process of building a 6br/6.5x284 switch barrel now. I'm also using the Bat MB and also plan on running the 105 class bullets. I'm really wanting to go with the Krieger 4 groove .237 in 28", but I've also thought hard on the Bartlein 5R if I can't find the Krieger soon.

Neither is a wrong choice. I would go with whichever is easier to get in your time frame.

Both great barrels and I've used both...this will be my first 6 BR. I will probably just use the Broughton I already have And see how it turns out.

Don't know first hand about a Broughton but my 30" Krieger HV 4 groove .237 shot the 105 VLD's extremely well enough to compete with the best of them and occasionally win. Mach reamer FB to bullet you will use - .015 or so.

Pac Nor, 3 groove, 1-8 twist, straight pipe in stainless steel, 28" or even longer. Zero freebore or just a little longer. Start of with lighter bullets stuffed into the lands and go heavier as the throat wears.(and it will, sooner than you expect o_O) .272 neck so you don't have to mess with neck turning. Deadly accurate combination.

I also have a Pac. Nor 3 groove in a light contour .22BR that shoots way better than it should given the light weight barrel. Many, many coyotes are not very happy with this rifle. Lol. :D:D:eek:
