So i got the call today!!

While watching the news about a month ago I learned of a new scam people we doing, which involves a phone call and they say your #and ask if it belongs to you and when you say YES they record it then use it to get bank info. and other stuff.I got a call from Rochester NY today and on the fouth time I answer it and the guy say's um ah then says my phone number and ask if it belongs to me and that's when he got a mouth full. The # was 585-445-7896 says the # is out of service when I call it back to finish what I was saying when the guy hung up which I thought was rude:)So if he calls you and he sounds like the guy you get when you call for computer service that's him.

If i have time, i make fun with those guys.
During a BBQ with some friends, i got a call too, Indian slang ( like in the tv show Aint half hot mom).
I set my phone to speaker.
He, i see you have diffultys with youre pc, can you download the program i give you the link?
Me, i dont have any problems, (pc was off).
He, i see you really have problems, let me help solve it.
Me, oke i see, mm, i see youre IP adres, mmm youre having troubles my friend. (pc still off)
He, me???? no no no you.
Me, i send some help from my friends of the SAS over to youre adres, there will be soon there, dont hang up.
He, he hung up.

So rude.

That's not particularly charitable. They're only trying to make a dollar and it seems that there's enough credulous people around that they do.

If I see a # on the caller ID I don't know or in my contacts, I don't answer the phone. I have had some fun with them before and usually end up pissing them off, which is the fun part for sure.

Just a warning. Never suggest an illicit relationship between their near antecedents & farm animals. I claimed that once & got phone calls every 20 minutes throughout the night until I took the phone off the hook.

No landline here and if you're not in my contact list, you are shifted direct to voicemail. I figure if it's important they'll leave a message. 100% of the time the nuisance callers never leave a voice mail. Have totally eliminated junk calls. Android app is called "Should I Answer".

I mess with constantly in the shop. Its alot of fun. But when I get tired of it I simply put on my ear muffs and I make sure that they listening to me and I have a air horn that I blast. No one has ever been on the line when I stop blowing the horn.

I got a number of those calls in the last month. I just don't answer if I don't know who it was.

So, I was checking my accounts online to see if I could afford a new March scope. Darn, if there wasn't a $400 charge that I didn't recognize. It was late on a Friday, so I sweated out the weekend, hoping they didn't clean me out. Early Monday, I called my banks security and had them trace it. After a few minutes, they reported it was a fish company. I filed a decline and they cancelled my card and sent me a new one. They also emailed me a copy of the charge details.

I glanced at the charge and was about to pour a cup of coffee, when it hit me. It wasn't co.fish, it was CO Fish & Game and I had cancelled my payment for my Colorado Mule deer tag, billed by a third party, as normal.

I called my bank back, and confessed I was old & senile and would they please cancel my request. I explained how important it was to get one more Mule deer, at my age. It ended well. Colorado got their money, hopefully I'll get my tag.

Of course, it wasn't my fault, at all. It's them darned scam artists that target old shooters and keep us so nervous about what little money we have left, after we spend most on essentials.

I put together an answering machine messages that has literately eliminated telemarketer calls.
Another trick is when they ask for you by name or the head of the household, you just say "hold on, I'll get them."
Put the handset down and go back to whatever you are doing while still connected. Time is money to these bottom feeders, so I waste as much of it as possible!
I also use the whistle trick, but only after telling the caller that I'm having trouble hearing them. I ask them if they are using a headset. Well of course they are, so they turn up their volume at which at that time I let go with my range whistle. Never got a repeat caller after that!! :D:D
I hope this helps.

I use Ooma, and they have a black list feature. Everytime I get one of these I black list it. IF they call back they get a msg about them being blocked.

Answering Machine works wonders. Phone rings, ZERO messages left. If it's someone I know, I'll pick up the phone. If that's called "screening calls", I love it. REALLY pisses the scam callers off.:D;)

Use a whistle and save your breath !

I had one to called every other day or so,
claiming to be from Microsoft computer division etc.

After the first couple of times of explaining to him,
that I am on the "DO not call List", and still receiving the same call,
I had enough, went to the local hardware store on got a mini Blaster Fog air horn.

The very next day, I got the call, I told him I was having a hard time hearing him, are you still there, Yes he replied, I let him have a blast of the fog horn and hung up.

Several days later the same thing, I hit him again.

He hasn't called back in several days, and I am awaiting for him. :D

Tia,
Don
