6XC

Yea I shot the Ramshot Hunter powder loads and even up a little over the book...It shot very well 1/2" groups at 200 yards but I abandoned the load for H4350 and RL17 but I have a good bit of Hunter powder so I might try it again.

I did not see data for the powders I had on hand for my 6XC, so I sent a message to their (Berger) tech department. They sent me data on IMR4350, H4350 and Accurate 4350. I have a ton of IMR so I went with that. Shoots very well. I tried the H4350 and got the same results as with IMR. Me thinks I will stay with IMR and have fun.

The advantage of the 6xc is not in it's ability to be hot rodded, but barrel life. It's less of a concern in the Blaser R8 barrels, they should go 3500-5000 rounds with this cartridge.

No hot rodding with my 6XC. I am under book max. I get 3060 -3070 or so, I am ok with that and it is very accurate at that speed. On my 8th firing and just trimmed my brass the first time, and then, not all of them.

How is the blaser barrel differnt from say a krieger that you get 2000+ rounds more than most people I know?

I am wondering if you need some kind of alien technology to chamber a Blazer barrel...ptg reamer probably good for half a chamber?...after it has been pre bored by a 3/16 boring bar????

Aliens, please chime in, please.

I recently purchased an R-93 barrel chambered in 6XC from Mark Schraeder (Mad Dog Guns) in Scottsdale. His email is markschraeder@msn.com. I believe he had a special run of these made for the R-93. Looking at the Blaser website I believe the R-8 has a 6XC barrel cataloged.

I'm curious about this myself. A bunch of guys i know including myself have 6xc prone guns and 2500 or so rounds is what we get regardless of barrel. That's @600 yards. I wouldn't bring one with over 2000 rounds to a 1000 yard match

Blaser makes its barrels using high vandium steel. My 223 LRS barrel has in excess of 15,000 rounds through it and we still can't measure 2mm of throat erosion. A friend has in excess of 2200 rounds with his 6.5x284 barrel, and another is shooting his 243Win semi-weight into sub Moa groups at 4400+ rounds.

Blaser makes most of the barrels for its rifles, and for Mauser, and Sauer, by hammer forging the barrel and chamber with one mandrel. That could explain why they will all shoot a similar load very well. In my 6.5x55SE barrels, my handloads will shoot the same POI and group sizes in my friends barrels made about the same time.

The selfadjusting colleted bolts help, my cases will measure the same headspace with different bolt heads on my bolt assembly.
