22 creedmore - who's tried one?

I have one, my coyote calling partner has one, my gun smith is building one, my other smith is considering one and another buddy built one. With the release of the lapua small pocket 6.5cm brass, it's a no brainer. It runs away from a 22 x47L and 22-250. Running the 80.5 bergers over 3400 from a 22" 8twist. Barely any recoil and a pleasure to shoot.

Do it, you won't be sorry.

Does the case have more powder capacity that a 22x47L? Guessing it does if it pushes the pill faster!

I don`t have case capacities, but I do believe the creedmoor has a capacity advantage over the x47.

If you want a little more go .22-243AI.....;)

Huck: I'm just getting started with my 22 CM. What's the go to power for 75-80 pills?

They are using H4350 with the Berger 80.5 bullets, the same as I'm shooting in 22x47L. The 22 CM seems to like 3 grains more powder than the 22x47L and is shooting 200 fps faster but it also has 2" extra barrel.

Good question. The neck is no-turn and I had it throated to match a loaded round that I built. I'll ask my smith about the neck and freebore here in a bit.
Thanks. I have been going to neck one down to find a no turn dimension, but haven't got there yet. Probably set it up for 80 VLD's.

The reamer is JGS and the neck measurement is .256" with a .0408" freebore. I'm not sure how different the 80 VLD and 80.5 bullets will load but I'm thinking that he throated mine another .060-.080" to use the 80.5s.

H4350 or Reloader 26 aka Unicorn tears. Both powders work exceptionally well for this cartridge. For the H4350 and 80.5gn Bergers, multiple guns have found a happy place around 41.5-43.0gns.

My 22 creedmoor reamer has .090"FB with .2575 neck. I have found that the lapua 6.5cm brass when need down will need a tiny skim on the neck turner to clear the .257, but it's run out is nearly non existent after that. If I was ordering a new reamer for the lapua brass I would go .258 neck.

Not super familiar but thinking it out runs the 22-250 Ackley bit is closer to the 22-243. It's based on the numbers I've seen in load data from both.

You may be able to get higher velocity due to higher running pressures ‘SRP’ but it essentially the same as a 22/250ai. I say this as I’ve used 6.5 Creedmoor brass to form 250ai brass (aka 25 cal). It’s a simple pass thru a fl die then a fire forming shot. Works extremely well for me. I haven’t used the SRP brass but may have to give it a try!
