Federal ammo layoff

Sounds like only thing they care about is panic buying horders. If they for Hillary than...

Another news rag jumping on the Blame It On Trump bandwagon.

It was the CEO of Vista that cited the election as part of the reason for the downsize.
In an earnings release last month, Vista Outdoor CEO Mark DeYoung noted that "The challenging retail environment we experienced in our first and second quarters worsened in our third quarter following a slow hunting season and the national elections.

Interesting comment about the slow hunting season. Don't know about other states but hunting license sales are down in Pennsy and a lot of my deer hunting buddies are starting to develop health issues that have reduced their ability and desire to hunt. For the first time ever, two of them didn't get out one day for deer and we have a five month season. I brought two new ones in to the fold but they are in their 50s and 60s. We need to get more youth involved and not just those living in rural but metro areas too.

i guess it could be blamed on "video" games!

Not sure about that as we had a new thing back when I was growing up, the TV. Plenty of cartoons, westerns, comedies and other time wasters to watch BUT my parents limited the viewing time. "Go out and get the stink blown off of you" was a constant rejoinder from Mom. Now you have hundreds of tv channels, computers, smartphones, social media, after school and other sports competing for a kid's time.

Unexpected headwinds, i.e. different election outcome. Hopefully it'll get so bad prices will fall but I'm not holding my breath. The last paragraph says it all.

We don't see affordable .22 LR ammo on the shelves like we used to. I think that if it would return at old prices maybe all the ammo sales could be rejuvenated and the fun we all had blasting away all afternoon at cans etc. with our twenty two's could be enjoyed by young ones and inspire future hunters/shooters.

Actually, saw an article in the local California newspaper a few days ago that reported that DOJ Background Checks for weapon purchases were down 400,000 this year compared to the same time last year. Perhaps people feel safer now that the "Great Black Hope" is out of office. I know I do! The "O" was a complete and utter farce!

And parents let them stay on them every available minute. You won't get them to the woods or water unless you start them young and limit their time on electronics. Once the older guys cant do it anymore times will really change. Matt

I'm bringing my granddaughter along slowly. She loves to shoot, and has been asking to go with me deer hunting. Still a little squimish at her age though. One of the other posts mentioned putting those people to work on primers. I'd like to see some more Federal Automatch 22. We can easily go through a brick every time at the range.

They have had run-away sales for several years. Now it gets back to normal and they are calling it a challenging market. How stupid do you have to be to not understand that this would some day end?

"That is why they are called "Managers" & get paid the big bucks!" Good thing for the so called managers that they don't have a job requirement of being able to perceive trends & market conditions and think! There would be a lot of them in the bread lines instead of the poor working stiff whose job depends on the "Managers?" to make correct decisions based on available data!

When production/demand slow down, people lose jobs. GM is doing the same thing right now, but on a much larger scale.
