223 chambering issues

image.jpeg Hey everyone, I ran into a problem today for the first time. I just picked up a pre owned 223 barreled action. It is a 700 that's been completely done by kampfeld customs. I put it in a chassis and went to chamber a dummy round and it's not even close to chambering.

What could cause this. I'm using fully processed LC brass that I use in everyone of my other 223's 4 to be exact and multiple Ar's. I've never had one even close to a sticky bolt or non chamber. What could be the issue, how can I fix it.

I got this gun together for a practice fun gun where I can load in volume and shoot steel and mess around.

Try a new unfired cartridge case, it is possible that the new rifle has a minimum spec chamber and your previously fired but fully processed brass may have enough expansion at the base that it will not chamber.
If the new unfired casing will chamber your choice is going to be to either purchase new unfired brass for this rifle or buy a small base sizing die to resize your previously fired brass.

Call Kampfeld. What does the previous owner say?

He is suppose to call them, I just spoke with him today about it.

He said he ran lapua and LC brass with no issues. I'm assuming it's just a really tight chamber. It ruins my plans to use the 3000 rounds of processed brass I got to load in volume. Obviously there is no point to spend the extra $ for processed if I'm going to have to bump all of the shoulders back

I had the same thing happen this summer. Mine was like others said and had to use new brass for that barrel. The match chamber was much tighter and would not chamber my once fired brass from my Savage.

Edit: My issue lied in the case body and not the shoulder.

Do you have any headspace gauges ? It is most likely just going to need NEW brass and keep it separate from your others .

I ordered one, no reason to size loaded ammo. Just the processed brass. Hopefully it's the fix.

I also tried adjusting my sizing die about an 1/8 turn farther than normal. Even though I did no case prep on this lot of brass and it ended up chambering, so either way I will have it fixed.
