A little engraving fun with the 4th axis

Recently got a request from a new customer to engrave his business logo/caliber on his barrel shank. Turned out to be quite the programming challenge as the logo was wide enough that it needed to wrap around the barrel shank for 37 deg. I had to program the logo flat and then convert to a radial program. I think I had smoke coming out of my ears at one point. We were also engraving through his freshly Cerakoted barrel and had to minimize any scratching. I think the gods must have been smiling that day as the barrel did not get any marks in the process.

Currently I am using Aspire 4.0, one of the more user friendly ones that I have tried. Different software was used to import the logo from a business card, strip away all content except the outline of the logo, to create the toolpath. Lots of fun.
