Berger hunter vld vs hybrids

Has any shot the VLD'S then shot the hybrids out of the same gun? And if so did they shoot and group the same or did they group differntly? The only reason I ask is cause the bullet jacket thickness is different.

I think my f class scores were better when I shot the vlds vs the hybrids. both grouped very well, but maybe I would give the nod to the vlds accuracy wise too

Accuracy seems a bit inferior with the hybrids but much more mag tolerant and versatile than the vlds in hunting rigs. I'd say accuracy is well within acceptable for hunting even coyote size animals. Shot some recently purchased 95s for a 243 and had .5 - .75 groups. Usually prints .5 or under with the vlds. Those were out to 500 yards also. Have some 168 classic hunters for the 284 but have not ran those yet. Soon tho.

IMO the .30 cal hybrids(are the ones I shoot the most) were not as user friendly as they were marketed to be. That being said, I shoot the hybrids- they just took just as much work to get to group well as the VLDs. JMO.

If you dont have to worry about oal shoot the vlds, they are more accurate as a whole when you find the right seating depth.

The hybrid is a crossover vld bullet... it was made to be less sensative to seating depth whether jammed or jumped... in particular its geared more towards rifles with mags that hinder the correct seating depth for a vld, but while still performing as a vld.

IMO
Easy example is an AR.. the right seating depth a vld needs may be too long to fit in the mag... this is where the hybrid comes it because it was made to be able to jump a little, so it can be seated deeper in the case to fit in the mag, yet still perform like a vld...

Jmo- but im right on most of it. Go read betgers website if you dont trust my source.

overall, i am having better luck with the 105 Hybrids vs the hunting VLD's. i jam both .015" and the hybrids have been more consistently accurate, with a better bc to boot.
