Berger 6mm 105 gn Hybrids vs VLD hunting

I have have good success with my 6Dasher jumping the 105 gn Hybrids .020. Just starting to load the 105 gn VLD Hunting bullet. Same .020 jump?...more or less? The powder and primer are currently the same.

I tested the 105 VLD hunt in a 243 for 3 different seating depths , 10 in, 10 out and 20 out. Three 5-shot groups of each seating depth. 1 group of each at 100m, 1 groups of each at 200m and one at 300m.

10 in averaged 0.53moa
10 jump average 0.48
20 jump average 0.52 moa

Rifle is a Savage short action with a Shilen 26" prefit bull in a MDT HS3 chassis, Bushnell XRS 4.5-30 scope.

My conclusion is... ALL SHOT JUST AS GOOD.

I don't have any magic formula; I doubt that any of those listed here meet that criteria.
Load 'em up using your current data and make adjustments if necessary. This ain't rocket science and there are no reliable constants.

I used to never test a jump larger than .020" until I read Berger's blurb on seating VLD bullets. Now I test MUCH larger jumps during load workup. Although my 6mm BR shoots VLDs and Hybrids best at .010 jump, my .223 F T/R gun shoots 80gr Berger VLDs best at .080" jump, something I would have NEVER tested until reading what Berger has to say. Of course you gotta' test for yourself, but make sure you're testing in the correct range of possibilities.

I tried every depth possible with the 105 Hunting VLD's from an 8 twist BR and my XC. I concluded that .02-.025 off lands was the best accuracy and I didn't get the pressure signs like I did when they were jammed. I have no experience with the Hybrids.

VLDs will certainly handle a jump, its just a matter of finding out how much of a jump the rifle likes. They do usually like to be seated close to the lands, but you never know until you test.

If your rifle likes a .020" jump with one bullet, I would check that same jump with a new bullet. If the results aren't quite up to par, then you can tweak it in and out a little.
