What is this common Butch Larry

I guess that is my "common" Larry.

Larry Larry, My barrel blanks for my customs come factory stamped on the end and it is cut off. After the build I engrave them. Quit trying to post what you want to think I mean.

Butch Lambert, I have 7 new barrel; none of them are stamped. I ordered one barrel that was shipped as a 338/06. I chambered it to 338/280 Remington.

No just someone who understand chambers every barrel I have is marked . If it is a 2702 or 269 I know the free bore and neck size along with its chamber . No guessing . Larry

I'm sorry I tried to have fun at your expense. Of course you would expect a custom barrel to be marked, and as I explained in my first post, the guys that sell barrels with the Savage style lock nut for user installation usually mark them even though the markings clock at random on different actions. This circumstance appears to be a factory barrel that was sold as part of a bankruptcy liquidation, purchased by someone that installed and shot it for a while (probably until he became tired of the recoil of the 375 H & H), never did mark it, and then re-sold it on EBay. Really no one to blame here, and is sounds as though the barrel probably was as advertised: a factory 375 H & H barrel.

Savage didn't start using the lock nut to make the barrels user interchangeable, they did it to save manufacturing costs. It turned into a surprising boom for the after market and has helped to make Savage actions more popular.

Those are some of Larry's barrels being "heat treated" for stress relief after rifling.
