Re: Site Needs .243/.243AI Loads & Comments

Looking for a good start point for my new .243, 8 twist and 105 Berger VLD.

I am looking for a specific load for 1000 yards. I have several powders in the shop but am willing to try a specific powder for this special load.

Thanks in advance!

50gr of Retumbo, H1000, and RL25 - RL26 you can fit up to 52 + depending in the brand of brass.

straight 243 Win,,Krieger .236 8 twist 27.3 inches long

WW brass
105 orange box Berger VLD-H
41.5 H 4350
CCI 200
3200 fps with ES in single digits and SD almost zero

4000 MR.

A sort of extruded shaped ball powder made in the USA. One end square the other rounded.

87 VMax 45.5
95 Berger VLD 44
105 AMax, Barnes Match Burner 42.5

under .75 @ 200 with 95 Berger VLD bullets

4000 MR, CCI 200 primers. A good cheap powder for the .243. Feeds consistently & nice and easy through my old powder measure.
Modest expectations. Can't find H4350 so tried 4000 MR. Does what I need and want.

1-8 twist McGowen, 26 inch barrel.

I'm shooting a 243 A.I. Lapua brass, BR4 primers, 31" 1-8 twist Broughton 5C barrel, RL 19 powder, Berger 108gr. BT, My issue is accuracy goes away after 15-20 shots. Cleaning is not possible between 17 round stages. I'm open to suggestion for a clean burning powder?

I'm shooting standard 243 win in a 70s remington varmint
I run the 105 hornady bthp
39.1gr imr4007ssc
CCI 200
Seat at 2.810
Average 2870 over 10 shots
Not hot in my rifle.
It's a 24" barreled rifle. It shoots in the low to mid .3s. More in the 3s

I also shoot 95gr nosler ct bullets
39.5gr 4007ssc
Runs about 3020 average. Haven't shot many of these
They were solid 1/2". A few over but I think not was me

I've been developing loads with RL-26 for my .243 AI and I'm impressed with the speed and accuracy I'm getting. I've settled on a baseline load of:

48.8 gr RL-26
Lapua brass
Federal LRM primer
105 gr Hornady A-Max (just off the lands)

This load clocks an average 3,305 fps out of my 26" barrel and the accuracy is excellent. There's room for more, as I have yet to encounter pressure signs but this load fills the bill nicely. I had been using H100V and H4831SC for the 105s with absolutely satisfactory results but RL-26 is yielding excellent velocity at what I believe to be modest pressures. I'll continue to experiment with other charge weights, bullets. etc. Wonder how fast I can push those 105s . . . .

FOUND A GOOD LOAD TODAY IN MY 12 TWIST 243 ACKLEY 41.5 GRS RL-15 AND A 75GR VMAX LAPUA BRASS 450 CCI 'S SHOT A .189 3 SHOTS, CROWS NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!
