Savage prefits in 6SLR?

Does anybody make a savage pre-fit chambered in 6SLR?

I'm having difficulty finding any and was hoping someone had gone down this path before.

I've never heard of a prefit in 6SLR. I believe your best bet would be to have a 6mm blank drop shipped to a smith with a 6SLR reamer. They should be able to chamber it according to specs without having to have your action in hand. They then ship it to you, but of course this would certianly cost more than most prefit barrels.

In that case, does anybody sell Savage unturned blanks but with the shanks already threaded? I.e. I can then ream the specific chamber myself?

The SLR is a wildcat with no SAAMI spec. I can't imagine that anyone would make them other than custom order, and in all likelihood with a reamer that you provide.

Preacher ordered a Brux barrel for my Savage PTA. 1.125 straight, finished to 30". Then he cut the tenon directly on the barrel and chambered it using my 6SLR reamer.

The reamer I got from PTG had a .274 neck. I would get a 275. I'll say I was disappointed in my 6SLR. It was slow and my load numbers were never very good. It lasted 1900 rounds which isn't anything special for a big 6mm. Especially since it ran at or below dasher speed. I've heard that even the new lots of Winchester brass has to be turned after forming. Not enough gains over a straight 243 for that effort.

Bartlien 24" med Palma 5r. Running 43.8gr H4831 105 hybrids at 2890-2910. Got flat primers at 44.6 at 2960. I was able to top out at 3150 with RL26. I didn't play with it enough to get a load dialed in. I was using Hornady brass which I want not fond of. My ES stayed around 30.

Do you stock large shank /no taper? In other words, 1.120 straight. Prefer 29" unfinished. Also prefer Brux or Krieger.

Too bad. I have 2 Brux barrels (6XC and 6SLR) that Preacher ordered for me and chambered as pre-fits. 1.125 straight finished to 30". Guess I'll be going that same route when I need 2 more barrels.

Criterion will chamber using your reamer. Your still looking at 3-4 months delivery after order.
