Wyoming Elk

Pull my finger
The wife was lucky enough to draw another permit south of town. She's been hunting all month, seeing lots but can't get the setup right. I have been sitting home re-habbin a knee that I had replaced 5 weeks ago.. Yesterday her and a her friend Amy took the Jeep out hunting.. I get a call around 4:30 that they have one down.. They had to crawl through the brush to get the shot. Call some friends to help load and head out.. Here's a pic at the kill sight. Not bad for a near 70 year old woman.
SAKO 270
130 Nosler Partition. One shot in the boiler room. 300 yards
25 miles south of town

She deserves a big pat on the back! That's quite a lady;) You'll never be hungry with her in your life!

OH my God...Don't you know that a lowly .270 Win is weak of a cartridge to kill Elk!!!;)

Great kill, and great stalk to close the distance in that low brush! Congratulations!

I love the .270 Win with the old Partition 130. From coyote to black bear to elk...it has done it all superbly.

Congratulations to your wife on her very successful Elk Hunt. Maybe she can give some of us guys some pointers.

Just goes to show you again that there is really no need for a "magnum" cartridge even for elk.
A Pals been dropping them since the 70s with his .270 M77 ruger.
She did a great job & nice elk to top it off.

We have 2 270's that we have been using since the 70's. I have a big magnum [7-Ultra mag] but it hasn't killed anything any faster.. And those Wyoming women can git er dun.. By the time I arrived they had it field dressed and ready to load..

I'll second that great lady bit. Everyone should have a wife that loves pulling the trigger. Makes life a happier place to be.

Great job! Please pass along my congratulations. It's great to be married to a hunter. My wife is a hunter and darn good shooter also.

Beautiful bull! :) I got my bull elk second day of the rifle season up here in Montana, but my bull pales in comparison to that trophy. Great job :)

Big congrats to everyone!
I hunted in Montana in the early 90's where a nun that was 70 years old, and pals with my cousin, was finally allowing another person to go with her on her elk hunt. She had reflexes like a cat! Caught a falling candle in our tent. Had to see her to believe her. Don't ever underestimate the ladies out there!
Great story!

I bet I know exactly which town you are referring to when you say 'lucky enough to draw another permit south of town'... Wish I could draw that permit for elk. Had it for deer a couple times. Nice job neighbor I've never met.
