Federal Primers WTH!?

I'm still in shock so it's hard to decide where to start. Here it goes, bare with me a little. My nephew calls me today and ask me if I could reload him some ammo for his 257 Wby if he bought everthing that was needed and that he was almost out of what the guy gave him that he bought it from. I said sure, did he give you all the data with the you bought the rifle. He said yes and texted me a pic of the data card. He proceeds to ask where would the best place to buy the components would be and told him where he needed to go. I also old he should be able to get everything on he list except for the Federal 215 primers but we could sub in CCI 250, which I have quite a few of. He said "well, It shoots really good and I would like to stay with what he loaded". I said OK I'll look around. I get a big online gun auction site and go to the reloading section and find Federal primers. OH MY GOSH!!!!!!! I bet fell out my chair! People are asking ridiculous amounts for these things! Starting price on one auction of a 1000 was $250! Another auction for 5000, starting bid, $900!!! Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with people making money on stuff but that is insane. Evidently they don't need to sell'em and figure if someone is willing to give that for them they let them go.
Sorry for the long rant but i just had to tell someone! You may now resume normal reading.
Oh yea, my nephew said, "I bet the cci's will work"!

Federal 210 match (large rifle) haven't been on the shelf in my area for over a year from what I can determine. I've been using Federal 210's in my 308 and 243's and haven't noticed any difference.

I hate finding out that the 10,000 primers I have sitting in the reloading room are that rare....it puts me in a bad spot trying to figure out if I would be better off to sell them or keep them.:(

I scored another box of federal large rifle magnum match the other day at my shop i go to...

i wish i had money to have been hoarding stuff up slowly but its all expensive to even do slowly... ive been trying... but cant even put a dent in what i wish i had piled up...

A lot of guys laugh because I have so many 1lb bottle of powder. You don't miss the $20-25 here and there as much as you do the $200 when you buy an 8lb jug. Primers are the same way with me. 1k here and 1k there. Lots get mixed up more but it's not too often I say I'm out of something

Sell!!! Replace with Rem brand, then take your wife on a nice vacation.

History 101 !!!!! CCI250 Primer !!! The NRA did a test years back on LC Match Load for .308 852 load (168 Sierra Bullet)
5000 Rounds tested to equal the LC match load.....

The winner was loaded with CCI250 Primer !!!!!!!

in my 6PPC I switched from the Fed205s and tried the CCI400,BR4,Rem 6 1/2 and 7 1/2,,of all those including the Fed205s I have been getting better accuracy and ES from the Win WSR primers,

Hell when Obama got in the second time, people were paying me almost 200 bucks for a pound of powder that I started the opening bid on at 20 bucks.

any one using Wolf? Small or large and in what application? Like them? I have been a Federal guy for years, but for some time have used WSR and WLR in my "not important" loading. Wondering if Wolf will work ok in my Groundhog rifles

i have been using nothing but Wolf/Tula primers ever since they first hit the market here.. Never had any problems with them and they have always done a great job..

I use Wolf LR primers in my 308 FTR rifle. After testing several brands Wolf produced the lowest ES numbers. I've shot a lot of Winchester LR primers (I'm an old guy) and they did well until max or max+ loads were used. Pierced a bunch of them. Gave up on Winchester for max loads.

Those Winchester primers were just fine till they stopped with the nickle coating on the cup.. it was after that i started incurring pierced primers rather often..

I have run the new blue boxed gold colored WSR primers in my 6PPC with 68BTs and 30.2 grs 133 at 3450 fps with no blanked primers and my 6.5x47L with 130 VLDs and 42.7 H4350 at 3,000 fps with no problems there either,,

I use the Tula 5.56 Magnums in my 6BRDX with 36.2 H4350 and the 105 VLDH at 3020 fps and after I learned to almost crush the Tula`s when seating the ES and accuracy is very good and they are near bomb proof,,
