In some Bats the front hole goes into a small threaded pillar or into the wood. The middle or front action screw are separate pillars. I would prefer two holes for strength, especially on a hunting gun. A lot of times when cleaning a gun the trigger guard holds the gun from sliding forward on a bench. MattI bought the 1 hole version. You can put enough tension on the back screw to hold it up and into place. As a plus I can pull my trigger and hanger off the bottom of the receiver and all without removing the stock or messing with a front trigger guard screw. Gabe
