I am looking at the CIP prints from JGS and PTG on the 6.5 x 47 lapua and noticed the neck dimension is .292. I believe to have a no turn neck it needs to be .294? If this is correct I'm guessing I will have to turn .002.
So is it worth having a special reamer cut to have a no turn neck? I've never done it, not afraid to do it but would prefer no too. I have a no turn on my 6br and have no regrets going that route.
Is there that much of an advantage to turning necks for accuracy?
I was going to have a reamer made anyway for a .175 freebore and no turn to shoot 139 grain scenars but after looking at the distances I will be shooting most of the time a 123 scenar might be a better option for me and chamber accordingly. The cip reamer will give me about .165 freebore which I'm assuming would be more appropriate for 123's.
Any opinions welcome, John
