6.5x284 reamer/FB question

I'm was wondering if someone could give me some info on the freebore used on a 6.5/284. I'm actually looking to shoot the 120-130grain bullets (mainly the 123 a-max) but I don't know what freebore would be needed. Also what is a no turn neck dia. for a 6.5/284? And what is the difference between the norma and winchester, is that similar to a 6BR rem vs. Norma?

I used a reamer with .160 freebore and .297 neck to use 130 VLDs with Lapua no turn brass. Don't know about the lighter bullets as I shoot that one exclusively.
The Winchester suffix was the wildcat designation off the .284 Winchester.
Norma submitted the same round to CIP hence the 6.5-284 Norma designation.

thanks for the response hog. How much room in the neck does that leave you to play with using the free bore? Also what is you're loaded outside diameter? And what reamer should be used for using Lapua brass

Here's a pic of a loaded round with Lapua brass and a Berger 130 Hunting VLD. Diameter varies between .2925 and .2930. My throat is eroded .010 and this round is a .010 jam. Hope this helps. Hog

Yeah that helps a good bit, thanks for posting. What kind of velocity are you getting? Also what twist are you using for the 130's?

Just a skosh over 2900 for best accuracy. Barrel is 25" 1-8 Brux sendero contour. I'm using Hybrid 100V and CCI BR4s

My last group at 500 meters and this was off a junk rest & rear bag. It definitely shoots bet than I do. I may have to go to the 140s as the throat wears.
